Not recommended for beginners. The D-III was renowned for it's incredible rate of climb, but was plagued by engine trouble. The D-IV was designed to have a higher speed in level flight, and in some respects was a better fighter than the famous Fokker D-VII.

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$32

1970s reissue of the older kit. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction, quality printwood, stripwood, wire shaft, fully formed and finished wood wheels and thrust button, clear canopy material, rubber, tissue, propeller and detailed full size plans with building instructions. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Renwal Curtiss Goshawk F11C-2 Aeroskin - (F112C) USS Saratoga, 1/48, 282-149

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG++

$85

Still factory sealed but the seal has drawn the box concave. This is one of Renewal's famous Aeroskin kits, and a rare large one in 1/48. Features markings for the aircraft of "High Hat Squadron", VF-1B commander Seligman aboard the USS Saratoga in the early 1930s. The model has an injection molded inner structure of ribs and stringers like a real aircraft, then the modeler covers it with provided authentic pre-colored Aeroskin fabric. There is little painting needed as elaborate finishes are printed directly on the Aeroskin covering. This results a very realistic and colorful model.

StromBecker Lockheed F-94 Jet, C-43

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$79

Excellent 1950s kit. The carving is done to the final shape. When complete it makes an impressive desk top display. Features all high-quality hardwood main parts, clear plastic canopy, full color decals, glue, wood filler, sandpaper and special display stand. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts and plans. Box displays better than the 'good-' grade but is graded such because there are many pieces of clear tape on the short box ends. Before plastic kits were introduced, Strombecker was famous as the premier hardwood preshaped model manufacture. In the 1940s and 1950s, Strombecker kits were flawlessly engineered but not inexpensive. All wooden parts are hardwood and are precarved to shape - you only had to glue, sand and paint to finish them.

Comet Stinson 150 Voyager Struct-O-Speed - 10 inch Wingspan Flying Airplane, 2103-29

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$26

Purchased new in 1972 from National Hobby in Ohio. Comet would advertise that the Struct-O-Speed series 'Puts Itself Together...That Quick!' on the box top, and it was not a completely idle boast. These kits were very highly prefabricated for their time, and in comparison to the regular stick and tissue models, the claim is not unfounded. Kit features all die cut wood parts and wheels, balsa prop, metal prop shaft and rubber hood and detailed instructions with flying tips. Complete and never started.
