Revell TWO Heinkel He-111 H-6 / Heinkel He-111Z / Ju-52, 1/72, H2016

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

SALE!! Includes all 4 kits in the boxes shown. NOTE: Sold AS-IS and not inventoried. This collector was very meticulous and of his kits that I did inventory, 95% are complete. But on these kits he cut the sprue (trees) with the part numbers still attached to each number, so the parts are loose. Because of that, I have not inventoried these kits. NOTE: he built minor (and occasionally major) sub assemblies (cockpit tubs, wing halves, etc.) to 'professional' quality. He also almost always removed the display stands (if provided). Again, these kits are sold not inventoried and AS IS hence the very low price.

Dyna-Model North American P-51 Mustang - Wood and Metal Model Aircraft, 1/48

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

In the 'Golden Age of Aviation Modeling' (1930s and '40s), most modelers built the flying 'stick and tissue' type kits with rubber, CO2 or gas power. But there were a small but measurable percent that built solid aircraft display models of great detail. This required great skill worthy of the shipbuilders of old, especially considering the limited technology. Many manufacturer's kits consisted of blocks of wood and a plan - the famous (or infamous) 'Make Wood Look Like Plane' kits. A few, like Dyna-Model Products Company, attempted to provide true-scale static models with a high level of detail. Today Dyna-Models are legendary and sought after collectibles. When you first open the kit, you see a black and white cardstock display with all the needed jigs and templates for assembly. Underneath, the fuselage is rough carved to ~95% of final shape (not just profile cut) and all other parts are either profile (2D) or die cut. Includes color decals, full size high-quality plans and the crowning jewel, a box of finished metal castings for super detailing your aircraft. Never started and inventoried complete.

Monogram Speedee-Bilt Boeing PT-13 Kaydet Trainer, G5-100

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

Rare kit from 1957 in exceptional overall condition. This is a highly prefabricated, rubber-powered, wooden scale flying model kit. It features beautiful, completely finished Monofoil upper and lower wings, die-cut fuselage sides and formers that are factory painted yellow, precarved wooden parts, fully finished wheels, die-cut clear windscreens, prop and pilot bust, fully formed wire landing gear, rubber motor, sandpaper, tissue, decals and excellent instructions. The kit has never been started. Before there were plastic models, there were wooden aircraft kits. These usually came in two types - solid and stick and tissue. The solid models were static and usually contained a few blocks of balsa and sometimes a detail part or two. These "Make Wood Look Like Plane" models required a very high level of skill in carving and finishing. The stick and tissue variety were slightly easier to build and provided the ultimate thrill - they could fly when complete with rubber power (and later with free-flight gas and eventually RC). They still required a great deal of skill, so manufacturers sought ways to make model building more accessible to everyone. One idea was pre-carving and/or prefabrication. This raised prices, naturally. Many manufacturers launched lines of 'easy' to build flying models but only Monogram succeeded in making an entire line at an affordable price that would actual fly. The original "Speedee-Bilt" kits were in one-piece two-color boxes. In the early 1950s, shortly before plastic kits were available, Monogram changed to the 'hardbox' with a lithographic slick glued to the top as this kit. Speedee-Bilt kits contained die cut and pre painted wooden parts, completely formed airfoil wings, carved wheels and numerous plastic details like engine cowl, pilot, missiles, prop and more. Assembly was by detailed full size plans.

Revell Chris Craft Flying Bridge Cruiser - Pre 'S' Issue, 1/56, H302-98

Vaccuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Sold

Rare first release from 1953 in a Pre-S box. The box is in investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition. This is quite possibly Revell's second ship model. It is very nicely detailed and molded in the beautiful and correct wood-grain swirl deep gloss brown plastic. Never started. The parts and all paperwork are still in the internal factory sealed bag; literally all the contents are factory sealed inside. The long-box USS Missouri was the first ship model that Revell cut their own molds for, and it was kit number H301-198. I believe this is their second native ship model since the number is H302. Predating both of these were some Revell marketed ships that were really Gowland and ex-Gowland molds from the small scale sailing ship series. Sometimes the earlier Gowland sailing kits had bottles included.
