Renwal M-50 Ontos - The Thing With The Sting, 1/32, 557

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Very highly detailed kit from the very late 1950s/very early 1960s that features working treads, some interior detail, opening hatches and covers and more. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. The Ontos was a unique vehicle. Ontos is a Greek word for 'The Thing' and the vehicles lives up to that. Developed along a new concept in mobile warfare, the Ontos has little defense other than movement but a very powerful offensive punch. It carries six 106mm recoilless rifles and .50 caliber spotting rifles. The firing sequence went like this: the crew of three would get out and hand-load the six large guns. Then the Ontos would quickly move towards the target. Once sited, the gunner would fire the .50 caliber spotting rifle. This gun fired a different cartridge, a special low velocity round that matched the trajectory of the 106mm. The spotting round was very accurate and made a visible flash on striking the target. Then he could fire a full salvo of 6 or in steps of two. The 8.5 ton vehicle would then speed away, moving to a safe location to reload.

Revell Republic F-84F Thunderstreak Whip-Fly, 1/54, H152-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

Sold

1960 issue of the rare 'Whip Fly' series. Hardbox artwork for this series was 'action' photos by Tom Kelly. Whip-Fly kits contain the aircraft model with nose ballast, a metal control ring, 12 feet of control line and a control handle so that you could spin the aircraft around in circles. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals, special whip-fly parts and instructions. Please note that the box only grades 'Fair' due to litho damage and staining as shown in the photo. The long side of the box shows the complete Whip-Fly series with the action box art. Included are H151 F9F-8 Cougar, H152 F-84F, H153 F-89D Scorpion, H154 F8U-1 Crusader, H155 F-39 Airacobra and H156 F-101A Voodoo. Although not listed yet, there was also a Whip-Fly Canberra, F-106 and Yak-25 Flashlight. The Whip-Fly series seemed like a good idea...at first. Revell quickly realized that spinning heavily-ballasted, sharp objects at dizzying speeds in or outside the home near groups of children was not the best idea. The series was quickly discontinued.

The Lincoln Continental was essentially a hand-built personal luxury vehicle from 1939-42, and continued to be so upon its post-war run as well. Like most of Detroit’s 1946 models, the Continental had some minor visual differences from the previous version, with a “mouth organ” grille replacing straight bars, and different bumpers. The Continental steering wheel and gauge faces were burgundy and the dash trim was now chrome instead of gold tinted. Interiors were leather and whipcord or custom cloth. The 1946 Lincoln Continental paced the Indy 500, driven by Henry Ford II, and 201 Cabriolets and 265 coupes were built that year. Its $4,400 base price made it one of the most expensive domestic vehicles for the year.Production resumed in earnest in 1947 and 738 Continental convertibles and 831 coupes were built, offered in 12 colors, with 3 interior color options. The V-12 engine now had a bigger sump with six quarts of oil, and exterior changes were limited to hubcaps and hood ornament. The 1948 model year was the last appearance of the Lincoln V-12 engine and the last Continental until 1956 Continental Mark II. Sales continued to be brisk, with 847 coupes and 452 Cabriolets finding buyers. Lincoln’s venerable side-valve V-12 would give way to a truck-based, 337cid V-8 in 1949 in the new slab-sided Cosmopolitan.

Rawnsley was John Cunningham's Airborne Intercept radar operator throughout WWII in both Beaufighters and Mosquitoes. The book is the story of their time and combat together and makes excellent reading.

IHP HMS St Andrew Battleship 1922 (N3) Great Britain - Hull Plus Large Parts Only - Imperial Hobby Productions, 1/700, SLP06

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

This kit consist of a beautiful high-definition resin cast waterline hull and large parts cast metal and resin. The large parts include the main turrets, secondary turrets, main superstructure and funnel. Like all IHP 'hull + large parts' models, you will need another kit to completely detail it - the 1/700 Tamiya Rodney or Nelson will do perfectly and is recommended. In some cases the Pit Road/Skywave sets of "Equipment For Navy Ships" works well for even finer details. Never started. The hull is in mint condition. The small parts are still factory sealed. Includes instructions with excellent drawings and references. The N3 class was a dreadnought battleship class designed for the Royal Navy after World War I, incorporating lessons learned from that conflict. They were similar in design to the G3-class battlecruiser, but had larger guns and thicker armour. They were never ordered due to signing of the Washington Naval Treaty in 1922, which limited the size and armament of battleships to 35,000 long tons (36,000 t) and no gun bigger than 16 inches. Most noticeable of the N3 design was the concentration of the main battery forward of the bridge and machinery spaces. A related feature of the design was the tower bridge structure behind the first two gun turrets. This provided a better and more stable foundation for fire-control equipment, greatly improved accommodation and protection from the weather. The N3 battleships were significantly larger than their predecessors of the Revenge class. They had an overall length of 820 feet (249.9 m), a beam of 106 feet (32.3 m), and a draught of 33 feet (10.1 m) at deep load. They would have displaced about 48,500 long tons (49,300 t), nearly double the displacement of the older ships. They had a complete double bottom 7 feet (2.1 m) deep. The N3 design mounted nine 45-calibre BL 18-inch guns in three triple-gun turrets, designated 'A', 'B', and 'X' from front to rear. The guns had a maximum elevation of 40 degrees.

IHP L-II Battleship - Lion II Perhaps / Hull and Funnel / Conversion - Imperial Hobby Productions, 1/700, 220020

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

This is the waterline hull and funnel only and is beautifully cast in high-definition resin. Like all IHP 'hull' models, you will need another kit (or two) to complete them. In some cases the Pit Road/Skywave sets of "Equipment For Navy Ships" works well also. The hull and funnel are in mint condition and that is all that is included. The hull is 14.5" long in this scale. Clearly I am somewhat confused as to exactly what this beautiful hull and funnel represent. this is a four main turret configuration with at least 3 deck mounted secondary guns and a WWI style funnel. Length of the actual ship would have been very close to 846 feet LOA.
