ITC Curtiss Condor - Eastern Air Service or Antarctic Expedition II, 1/84, 3724

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$32

ITC was the model manufacturing arm of the giant Ideal Toy Company. Ideal only made plastic models for a very short time in the late 1950s and early 1960s before all production was discontinued. Luckily, they made some great subjects. This Condor is molded in the correct bright orange with blue-tinted clear windows and base. Includes decals for both variants. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

ITC Grumman J2F Duck, 1/50, 3727-98

The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. Pyro Portuguese Man-O-War Santa Catarina do Monte Sinai - Flagship of Vasco de Gama, 1/200, C209-300

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$95

Very rare Larger-scale hardbox issue from 1966. There are only two 15th century war carrack ships that have made into plastic models - this one and the Henri Grace a Dieu, also by Pyro. Pyro had a tendency to produce historically significant models regardless of the popularity. I am thankful today that Pyro made these kits, but in the long run this practice did not help them. Pyro eventually sold the plastic kit business to Life-Like. The Portuguese carrack Santa Catarina do Monte Sinai was launched in 1520. She had the typical higher-castled construction and carried 140 cannons. In 1523 she was the flagship of the famous Vasco da Gama. The kit is well detailed and molded for that time and includes pre-formed ratlines, rigging line and billowing sails. The model measures about 14-15 inches long when assembled. The instructions include completed model photographs that are intended to be used as for rigging diagrams. Never started. The brown parts are all still in the factory sealed bag. The white parts were not sealed and have been inventoried complete with all parts, thread and instructions.

Pyro Gouda Dutch Man-O-War - 17th Century, B212-400

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$89

Rare Pyro kit from 1967. Large scale - measures about 14 inches long when assembled. Very nicely molded and detailed. Features well over 250 parts, individually molded cannon, cradles and cannon hull hatches, separately molded fife rails with belaying pins, pre-molded rat lines, billowing sails, blocks and two photos for use in rigging the ship. The kit has never been started. The white parts are still in the factory sealed bag; the brown parts were not sealed and have been inventoried complete including instructions. Any kit of a Dutch 17th Century Man-o-War is rare - this may be the only injection molded kit ever made of this famous subject. The Gouda fought in the Anglo-Dutch Wars. She was built about 1636 and was commanded by Jan Egbertsz Ooms. The Gouda and other ships from Witte de With's fleet were lost in a storm in early November 1653. Pyro did not cut molds based on popularity, but usually by the historical significance of the subject. This was not a good injection-molded model business practice, but many collectors and builders are grateful today for these kits. Please read the articles about Pyro Kit History and Pyro's founder. Both articles are located on this website.

Lindberg Douglas F4D-1 Skyray - (F4D1), 1/48, 562-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$45

Rare 'green' box art issue from the late 1950s. Fantastic artwork is by Ray Gaedke, who painted both of the Skyray issues for Lindberg. Kit features fine raised details, moving rudder and wing control surfaces, complete jet engine and opening inspection cover, pilot, two drop tanks, underwing rockets and a clear display stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Box displays much better than the grade but is ranked 'good-' because one short panel has stains, wear and three (later) price stickers. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufactures.

Revell DC-7 Flagship American Airlines One-Piece Stand Arm Pre -S Issue, 1/122, H219-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

$210

Rare 1954/55 Pre-S true issue with the fantastic artwork of a DC-7 at the moment just before touchdown. Please note, this is the correct first release with the one-piece plastic stand arm and instructions that illustrate this. Also, the main gear axles are separate parts on this issue. On the second issues the gear struts were modified and the axles were moved to the wheels, and the stand arm was changed to two plastic parts because the one-piece stand arm was fragile and in use it broke easily. Very few were made as Revell quickly corrected this weakness. Correctly molded in gloss silver and clear and a large, colorful decal sheet. Inside, the kit has never been started. I has been inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Instructions are 'near mint' with the detailed American Airlines route map on the back. Decals are 'excellent' and flat with no curl and light yellowing.

Revell Sikorsky H-19 Rescue Helicopter, 1/48, H173

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$49

1979 reissue of the famous 'S' kit. Features optional position clam-shell doors, detailed Pratt and Whitney R-1340 Wasp Engine, movable main and tail rotors, full cockpit and figures and can be built as the land version with wheels or float version. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Revell F9F-8 Cougar Pre 'S' Kit - (F9F8), 1/52, H212-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$95

1954 Pre-S issue of this kit. This is the second issue in a two-piece hardbox. The first issue was in the simple one-piece box and Revell quickly learned converted to this two-piece box as it was much more durable and a full-color lithographed 'slick' could be used. For this issue Revell added rivet and very fine raised panel line detail as well as landing gear and the famous clear Revell 'Globe' stand. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box displays very nice, but it is only graded 'very good++' because there is a tape tear from the factory sealing tape on the lower long side. The rectangular tear measures .75 x .85 inches.

Aurora Boeing KC-135 Jet Stratotanker, 1/125, 143-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$59

Dated 1963 and from ex-Comet molds. This is the largest of the two Comet molds and has cockpit and cabin clear windows and full landing gear. Molded in gloss gray and clear. This model was given a clear Aurora two piece 'triangle world' stand, unlike many of the other Comet kits which only had a modified version of their original stands included. Of course this is not the production KC-135 but a model of the Boeing prototype with USAF decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the cockpit windshield is broken neatly on the center frame line. The break is perfectly clean and an easy fix since it is in the frame section and not across a windshield panel.

Aurora Piper Aztec C, 1/72, 282-70

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$149

1968 issue and still the only injection molded Aztec kit. After Aurora purchased the Comet molds, they reissued the Comet civil light aircraft line. It appears that Aurora may have been inspired by the Comet kits or sales of the reissues, and they produced several more new molds to add to the line. This Aztec is one of those kits. Since the kit was designed new, it has significantly more detail than the older Comet kits. Features all recessed panel lines, full interior with a sofa, four seats and instrument panel, optional position landing gear and rotating propellers. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions.
