Rare kit from the early 1950s. One-piece flip top box with the pre-price extension part number. Molded in glossy white and clear plastic with the correct clear Comet 'teardrop' stand. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Comet originally began model production in 1929 with a line of balsa flying models. In the mid-1950s Comet made a beautiful line of small and medium scale aircraft and missile models with colorful boxes. The early issues were in one-piece 'flip-top' boxes, and the later issues and releases were in standard two-piece 'hardboxes' with a lithograph slick glued to the top box. In 1963 Comet sold the plastic kit molds to Aurora, who reissued some but not all of the kits.

NOTE: the box top is a reproduction made on a color copier. The box bottom is original. The kit measures over 21 inches long when assembled. Very well detailed kit of the famous rival of the Robert E Lee. Molded in high-gloss tan, burgundy, green and gray plastic. All details of the real ship, including the wooden railings and carvings are duplicated. Includes full rigging instructions and thread. Please note - sometimes the Natchez was or was not issued with the paddle wheel covers decals - this issue does have them. The kit is complete with all parts, decals, flags and instructions. NOTE: instructions have significant bug damage. They can be read, but I have enclosed the Life-Like instructions as a back up. The decals have 10% bug damage and the flags are intact but stained. Two pieces of #20 have the window frames and doors neatly painted, and the two small steam stacks have been assembled and painted. Quality of assembly and paint is very good. Two parts #20 and three #86 cargo posts are a different color plastic- they are from a later issue of this kit. The race between the Robert E Lee and the Natchez is considered a classic tale of The River. Although the Lee won, the circumstances were suspect and many people still considered the Natchez the fastest paddle-wheel packet ever.

Still factory sealed. Nicely molded and well made kit for that time. Features folding wings, interior detail, canopy molded in the correct five different sections for optional positions, two position bomb bay doors, internal bomb load and external drop tanks and wing mounted missiles. This kit is from Airfix molds. Dates from 1983. Before this, MPC was marketing Airfix kits under the Craftmaster name in the USA. This continued for several issues and was finally discontinued although MPC continued to distribute Airfix and their own models.

1930/40 issue of the well-designed light-weight glider. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998. Kit features tissue solid stick body and tissue covered wings and stabilizers. Has full sized plans and 7 inch wingspan. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Still factory sealed. Hard-to-find reissue from 2000. This kit uses the original molds from this 1964 kit. The Starbird-designed Predicta was the crowd's favorite, traveling over 50,000 miles coast-to-coast and winning many car shows, including the famous Oakland Roadster Show. She was the first in the custom field to have an electrically operated full Lucite Bubble Top and 'Unistick' steering where the wheels are turned by a centrally-located aircraft style control stick. Power was provided by a 392 CID '57 Chrysler Fuel Injection engine. The kit features operating 'Unistick' steering, working bubble top, opening hood, detailed engine, deep dish chrome plated wheels and highly detailed interior. The kit is molded in color and clear with chrome parts and real rubber wheels.
