MPC 1904 Darracq, 1/32, 2-1020

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$44

The Darracq was designed and built when France was the international center of motor vehicle excellence. While Britain, American and Germany either rejected the motorcar, showed indifference or activly fought to eliminate it, the French accepted it with open arms. As a result, the Darracq and other fine designs were the best automobiles in the world. The model is from 1975 and is a nicely molded kit of this successful early gasoline powered automobile. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. Other kits in this series include the 1912 Ford T, 1905 Rolls Royce and 1930 Bentley

Revell Oldsmobile Delivery Van Highway Pioneers - (Oldsmobile), 1/32, H44

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

All parts are still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag and it includes the instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Lindberg F-80C Shooting Star - (P-80), 1/48, 500-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear with the early O-lin style two-piece, teardrop-based stand. The kit has not been started and is complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Paul Lindberg got his start in 1930s model aviation by designing, building and flying stick and tissue aircraft. His plans appeared in Popular Aviation magazine and he soon made a name for himself. When injection molding showed the way to increased kit sales in the late 1940s/early 1950s, he quickly teamed up with Mr. Olsen to create 'O-lin' models. Ray Gaedke was one the the early artists for O-lin, and he help pioneer dramatic and colorful box artwork. In the early 1950s Paul Lindberg was running the company and had the logo changed to his name. The first logo was circular, with 'Lindberg' in middle and 'Products' 'Incorporated' arched across the top and bottom. The second logo is the 'Yellow Square' that is on this kit. Ray Gadke continued his bold and colorful artwork for Lindberg and did this F-80C boxart as well.

Wood and Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$62

Very nicely detailed with all the complicated parts cast in yellow, light tan or ivory injection molded plastic. Includes full size plans and instructions. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Hudson Miniatures created a very successful and popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well until the appearance of the much smaller and less scale Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. When the all-injection molded Gowland kits proved that they were not a passing fad, Hudson quickly planned and released his own small scale competition for them called 'Lil' Old Timers Quickie Kits'. The kits were of excellent quality, but it was too little too late. Sales of wooden kits faltered in the next few years with the introduction of all-plastic injection molded cars in the mid 1950s. This forced Hudson to discontinue both lines. Today, these excellent kits are often the only large-scale models available of these early automobiles.
