Monogram Douglas DC-10 American Airlines, 1/144, 5413

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc++

Sold

Still factory sealed. 1978 issue after Monogram bought Aurora's molds. Monogram only reissued the best and most commercially viable models. The DC-10 fell into that category but only after Monogram highly modified the molds to make it more accurate. The result is possibly the best early DC-10 Series 10 kit in this scale. First, Monogram made the fuselage smooth - no windows. Then they added very, very fine raised panel lines to all surfaces and added flap hinge covers (fairings) to the lower wings. Contains excellent, full American Airlines and window decals.

Sterling F4U-5 Corsair Launches Rockets in Flight - 24 inch Wingspan for RC - (F4U5), A14-398

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Sold

Still factory sealed. Purchased new in 1967 in Cleveland, OH. This kit is part of Sterling's expensive big-wingspan series that was designed for R/C and also includes numerous extra parts for control line operation. Can also be flown free-flight. Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model that features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, many light plastic detail parts, vacuformed plastic canopy, rubber motor, plastic prop, a big set of decals, coving tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.
