1/72 VK-1010 Viking Models Light Seal Support Craft Vietnam Circa 1969-1972

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Rare and unusual limited release kit that features resin LSCC, many cast metal details and other resin details. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. The Navy SEALs were commissioned as a unit in 1962. They were derived from the Navy UDT, which stood for Underwater Demolition Team. The SEALs soon required special equipment and the LSSC was just one. A total of 16 boats were ordered and it became operational in 1969. They were propelled by Ford Interceptor Police Car engines driving pump-jets. The LSSC made 26 knots fully loaded and its shallow draft of only 29 inches (loaded) made it ideal to operate in the shallow rivers and canals of Vietnam.
