Adams N.S. Savannah Atomic Powered Merchant Ship, 1/457, K320-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

This is the only ship kit released by Adams during their short production run in the late 1950s. This kit was also featured in the Nuclear Powered Gift set with two missiles. The model is well detailed and features propeller and rudder, detailed superstructure, clear promanade deck window inserts, lifeboats and davits, detailed boom assemblies, separately molded cargo hatches, color flag sheets, very cool looking 'Atomic' display stand and full decals including side stripes. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag. The larger parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box displays better than the 'very good' grade but is rated as such because ther is a 'v' shaped section (1.5" wide at the base, 1/2" high) of box top missing along the lower long side and the right short side has wear/stains. Adams was founded by Steve Adams and released plastic assembly kits in the late 1950s. The company was innovative and the general quality of most kits was very high for the time- so much that builders (not just collectors) still seek the kits today. Adams is best known today for a series of military vehicles and missiles, although they also released an aircraft (Draken), helicopter (YH-41), balloon (La Coquette) and ship (SS Savannah). Some of these appeared in gift sets as well. The Adams smaller scale (1/40) Atomic Cannon, Hawk Missile Battery, Honest John, Vanguard (1/80) and Thor (1/87)missiles and other kits are still sought after today. Combinations of these kits were issued in gift sets, which are very desirable collector's items today. In the late 1950s, Adams entered into a joint venture with Revell, and several of the military kits were released under the Revell label, such as the Jeep among others. Around 1960 there was a disagreement between Adams and Revell, and the agreement was terminated. Sometime after this, Adams quit the plastic model business, and Life-Like purchased most of the Adams molds.

Aurora The Hartford - Admiral Farraguts Flagship at Mobile Bay, 1/115, 441-600

Vaccuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

Sold

Very rare 1966 issue of this large-scale and well detailed model. The Hartford was the flagship of Rear Admiral David Farragut. In her he lead the Union Fleet to capture the Confederate forts guarding Mobile Bay, the only part of the Gulf Coast still in Confederate hands. In this long battle Farragut scored one of the key naval victories of the war. This is one of Aurora's best efforts in ship modeling and measures over 2 feet long. Features metal anchor chain, molded ratlines, a full set of sails and running and standing rigging. Never started. The black and white parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the brown parts are not sealed and have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions. The box has stains on the outside as shown but inside everything is in fine condition.

Renwal Vanguard Missile Store Display - Never Used In The Original Box, 1/32

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

For the advanced collector and serious investor. Very rare and even more so in never displayed, factory-new condition. This display was found in stored an old hobby shop. It has been in climate-controlled storage since new in the late 1950s and had never even been exposed to light until now. The result is a unique piece that is in the exact condition that it left the factory in; it would be impossible to find a better example. Even the factory shipping box and internal supports are completely intact. This is a Renwal-factory built display produced for hobby shop promotional use. The intention was that hobby shops would purchase and display these dioramas; then potential buyers would see the built model and immediately purchase the kit. This probably worked well; but the hitch was that these displays were expensive, so few hobby shops could afford them back in the 1950s. And for the ones displayed, there was heavy attrition. Parts broke, cigar & cigarette smoke darkened the parts & backdrops and when the new kits came out next year, they were thrown away to make room for newer items. This makes the condition of this one even more exceptional. The actual model is very neatly built and painted, is missing no parts and has had no repairs. The paint is 'factory new' condition and the decals/stickers are very good with the typical age wear as shown. The 3-D cardboard display is 'factory new' with no more minor flaws than it naturally left the factory with There are no rips, tears, repair, tape or missing material. The only real 'flaw' would be very slight age foxing on the back of the piece as shown (on the white section) A superb 'no apologies' piece of 1950s model kit factory artwork. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured. NOTE: It will be packed as well as possible in a double box, but be aware that some small parts or men may come loose during shipping and may have to repaired on your end.

Jo-Han 1960 Oldsmobile 98 Scenicoupe 2 Door Hardtop - Stock / Custom / Racing, 1/25, 2560-140

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Very rare original issue and even rarer in never started and complete condition. After the sales disaster of the 1959 GM "Big Fin" styling, 1960s models were hurriedly redesigned to be more conventional; the 1960s Oldsmobile 98 and 88 Scenicoupe Two-Door Hardtops were perhaps the most beautiful and balanced of all the efforts. If you have seen a restored one in person then you know what I am talking about. Tom Monaghan had an amazing metallic bronze '60 88 Scenicoupe that he restored for his collection; the car eventually auctioned off in the early 1990s and ended up at an antique car dealer just up the road from me; it was out of reach but I made at least 4 dozen trips just to gawk at it. This model is from late 1959, nicely detailed for that time and can be built one of three ways. Features one-piece body, good molded-in chassis & suspension detail, separately molded torsion bars, full interior, rotating wheels and numerous optional parts for all versions. Molded in ivory, clear, chrome late and with wide whitewall rubber tires, the correct wide metal axles and metal body screws. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Early Jo-Han car decals are generic and for the customized version only; Jo-Han used this sheet for at least 2 years and perhaps more.
