1972 issue with revised molds; a much better kit that previous issues. Includes pilot, ground crewman and battle terrain base. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. The aircraft represented fought with the Polish Air Force against the Ukranian forces in 1919 but by that point it was a D-VIII. The Fokker E.V was a fantastic performer and the result of a longtime Fokker development, the cantilever wing. In addition to greatly reducing drag, a properly built cantilever wing is very light and strong. This wing was first used on prototype V17 and then on V28 which took part in the Second Fight Competition (July 6-14 1918) where the most experienced German front line pilots chose new fighters for late war service. V28 was chosen for it's excellent flying properties and 200 of the production aircraft, known as the Fokker E.V, were ordered. Over 289 aircraft were delivery. The E.V began front line service on August 5, 1918; Lt. Emil Rolff of Jasta 6 reported an aerial victory on August 17. However, the day before, an E.V suffered catastrophic wing failure. Two days later, the same failure cost Lt. Rolff his life. All E.Vs were immediately grounded. A detailed investigation showed that there were fatal defects in the wing assembly caused by slack manufacturing processes. Although it was not his fault, Fokker took this opportunity to re-design and strengthen the wing. Existing E.V aircraft received new wings and newly built aircraft were designated D.VIII. Modified aircraft made it back to the front in November, too late for service. However, the aircraft saw active service after that war with the Freikorps air units, the Polish Air Force against Russia, the Dutch Air Force and an unspecified number went to France and the USA.

Late 1970s final logo issue. Includes parts and decals to make either version/aircraft. Excellent full color painting guide is located on the bottom of the box. Typical high quality Frog kit with fine panel lines and no rivet detail so it builds up to a realistic model. This kit has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Blue, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufacturers in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world.

VERY rare in this condition - still factory sealed. Like the first issue B-52, Monogram sealed the Phantom Huey in a unique way. There was never an external seal around the box top. The potential customer could lift off the box top, and the lower tray was completely sealed in clear cellophane so the parts and layout could be observed. This was a great way to make a potential customer into a paying one. The cello seal is still 100% intact with no cuts or splits. This is the first issue of this model, dated 1969. Large and completely transparent with a 20 inch long fuselage and nearly 2 foot rotor diameter. Well detailed with 184 parts and structural members and full internal detail. Features complete cockpit, pilot and co-pilot figures, full cabin, opening cabin door, inner fuselage framing, detailed engine and more. In the display base with the batteries is an electric motor which turns the main and tail rotors while the sound unit makes "chop-chop" sound that varies correctly with main rotor speed. To minimize painting, the kit is molded in clear, zinc chromate green, black, chrome plate, gray, olive drab and flexible black/gray ammo belts. The clear fuselage halves have no breaks or cracks, they are mint. The Phantom Huey box top was notoriously thin and damaged easily. This one has the typical wear but amazingly has four solid original corners, no holes and is 100% intact. Other than the wear and moving sticker, the other flaws are on the box sides, thankfully. There were two closed tears on the side panels which I have repaired correctly from the inside with book binding glue. A long time ago there was tape on the very bottom of both long sides; it is gone, but you can see the brown residue from it for about 7" x 1" on the lowest edge. NOTE: this kit must be shipped fully insured.

The gloss and color and like new, all four corners are solid and original (no repairs), there are no stains, tears, missing litho or creases and there are no price tags, tag marks, tape or tape marks (other than the original factory sealing tape). Features a well detailed Thor missile, complete launching tower and ground crew of three. Molded in gloss white and medium gloss gray. Never started. The parts that were factory sealed are still sealed in the clear bag; the parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions are both in amazing 'near mint' condition.
