1970s issue with fantastic box art. This is part of Nichimo's famous 1/500 scale battleship and heavy cruiser line. This full hull kit is designed for operation in water or static full hull or waterline display. Nicely detailed and features lower hull molded in a 'IJN Hull Red' and all other parts molded in a very realistic dark gray. Includes all hardware for motorizing with brass battery contacts, metal shaft, cv joint, switch and more. The kit has never been started. The plastic parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the hardware bag has been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions. The I-19 is famous for firing history's most successful torpedo spread. On September 14, 1942 off Guadalcanal, the I-19 was patrolling of the Solomons when she fired a 6 torpedo spread. Three hit and sank the US Carrier CV-7 WASP, and the remaining three exploded against the BB North Carolina and the destroyer O'Brien. The destroyer sank & the North Carolina had to be repaired at Pearl and did not enter service again until November 16, 1942. The I-19's Glen seaplane also flew night reconnaissance on February 23, 1942 over Pearl Harbor for the planned second attack by Emily flying boats on that base. This kit is the 1969 issue in the 'Big A' logo hardbox. This large scale kit is almost 16 inches long when assembled and is an excellent model from Aurora's best efforts of the late 1960s/early 1970s. Aurora knew that most of their kits were outclassed, so in the mid and late 1960s they cut a new molds with much better detail - the I-19 was one of those. Includes display stand, a large wood-grained display base, decals, periscope and cranes, detailed Glen Seaplane, conning tower, deck guns and more. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Second issue hardbox from 1963 of this rare kit with great John Steel artwork. This is a well detailed model for that time which features 96 pieces, moving wheels, breech, recoil mechanism, limber and gun trails. Molded in gloss olive drab green and with black rubber tires. NOTE: this kit has very minor and 'professional' quality subassembly to only two parts: the gun barrel halves. There is no other assembly and zero painting. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The box displays higher than the 'very good++' rating but it graded as such because there is scuffing on the four sides; the sides only rate 'good+.'

1964 issue of this classic kit that features beautiful John Steel boxart. Large and highly detailed. This is an early version of the kit with the hull factory painted copper below the waterline. The copper paint is in 'excellent' condition with only light wear. This impressive model measures 36 inches long and 22 inches high when assembled. Features highly detailed deck, deck houses, cargo holds and covers, masts, yards and booms, bilge pump, windlass, 20 crew figure, and lifeboats with oars, life preservers, anchors, metal anchor chains, figurehead, finely detailed hull, preformed ratlines and molded deadeyes, pin rails and blocks, full standing and running rigging instructions and diagrams, 35 pre-formed vac billowing sails and four types of thread in two colors for rigging. Includes draftline and transom decals. Molded in three colors. There is no assembly. NOTE: this is very minor painting. The port hull half has minor (and correct) white paint to the inside bulkhead and the outer rub lines are painted white. Quality of paint is 'very good+'. There is no other painting. The black and tan parts and the rigging material is still in the Revell factory sealed bags. The white parts were not sealed and have been inventoried complete. Includes decals in amazing 'near mint' condition, flag sheet, assembly instructions, complete rigging instructions, rat line cutting diagram and even the excellent booklet "The Cutty Sark And The Days of Sail." Even the vacuform sails are in 'very good+' condition which is rare. Please note, they are not mint. There is some wear but they are well above average.
