It has been reported the light construction of the aircraft prevented the ship's AA ammunition proximity fuses from detonating. The type was also reported to have been used by Indonesian forces against Dutch colonial rule in 1947.

The kit is engineered for two electric motors; however, LS did not include them as they were sold separately. The batteries are held in a cleverly designed matching-scale fuel truck. Features all fine recessed panel lines, very good cockpit and crew station detail with crew, rotating turret with elevating gun, torpedo load with ground torpedo trolley, working bomb bay doors, working crew entry door, working slide-out style trailing edge wing flaps and ailerons, retractable main and tail landing gear with operating gear doors, rotating wheels & propellers, ground crew, wheel chocks and more. It was designed in 1952 and entered service in 1953 with Silver City Airways. Superfreighter's ease of maintenance, rugged design and ability to carry large loads made it immediately successful with the RAF and eight other air forces around the worlds, as well as with several airlines. Channel Air Bridge even operated a car ferry service across the channel.
