The Short 184 has the distinction of being the very first aircraft to sink a ship by torpedo. Over 650 were built by Short, Mann Egerton & Co, Saunders, Supermarine, Wesland and Robey & Co. 184s served in the Mediterranean, Red Sea, Dardanelles, Mesopotamia and the European Theater.
