Lindberg LST Landing Ship Tank - LST-393 D-Day 1944 Or Present / LST-393 MV Highway 16 / LST-325 D-Day 1944 Or Present, 1/245, HL213-12

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Modern reissue from the original 1950s classic kit and still a 'Classic Builder' favorite. Full hull kit which was very well detailed for that time features full hull, prop and rudder detail, extensive deck fittings, detailed guns and gun tubs, complete superstructure, landing craft with opening front doors, display stand and more. There is a superb, modern decal sheet for all versions listed. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. This kit has a fascinating history directly linked to the origins of USA plastic ship modeling. Originally produced by Varney in 1944, it was novel at the time as it was highly detailed, had a wooden hull, cardstock but all injection molded tenite deck parts and details. When the early Varney aircraft and ship kits did not sell well, Gorden Varney sold the molds for the kit to O-lin (Olsen and Lindberg). O-Lin reworked the kit using a vacuform hull, cardstock deck, metal railings and tenite parts. When Lindberg took full control of O-lin, he modified the molds for a third time so the kit has metal railings and all other parts are injection molded. Because it was always a great seller, Paul Lindberg reissued this model many times under numerous different box art. Some versions were motorized; others were not. Now Round 2 has acquired the Lindberg molds and issued it again; few kits have had this long of a successful life.

Competition Models Inc Sal Taibi's Starduster - 42 Inch Wingspan Gas Powered Free Flight Model

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Sold brand new on 7-7-1961 at the legendary Cleveland Hobby Supply Company at 4526 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH. Includes the original hand-written receipt. Large wingspan kit for .02 to .074 engines. This is one of the famous Sal Taibi's National award winning designs. Sal was one of the early 'Kings Of Gas Free Flight' and a very gifted designer. The model is from the 1950s. This model came from the estate of a very active and particular early aircraft kit collector. It is like factory-new inside and has not been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed clear bag; the other parts have been inventoried complete with the plans. Designed for 'Sniffing Thermals,' the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and powered models (most all driven by Brown engines) took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under power, but then glide sufficiently - all in a stable fashion and without any operator inputs once the airplane took off.

Miniature Masterpieces Wells Fargo Stage Coach - with Driver / Messenger and Four Horses, 1/48, K501-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

NOTE: this kit has neat subassembly; please read the description carefully. Rare early 1950s original issue. Molded in dark wood brown. Like all Miniature Masterpieces kits, this one is very finely engraved with excellent detail. The model includes detailed instructions (rare for the early 1950s) and a wonderful history of this Stage Coach. NOTE: this kit has 'very good' quality subassembly as follows: the stage body (3 pieces - two halves and the roof) and the horse halves. There is no other assembly. It has been inventoried and NOTE: missing one piece, the driver's arm. Otherwise complete with all other parts and includes decals and instructions. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lew Glaser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although having the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. However, there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954, making the one-year original issues very rare.

Please note that the box has gray paint on the far right lower section as shown. The Skysweeper was a 45 round-per-minute advanced AA gun/electronics package that was teamed with the Nike Ajax in the late 1950s/early 1960s to defend America against Soviet Attack. The gun system was radar controlled and fully mobile. It could be set up on any terrain and ready to fire in 2 minutes.
