This is a very nice model of this Soviet jet-powered two seat armored ground attack aircraft. It flew well until the guns were fired and the exhaust gases caused the engine to lose power and sometimes quit all together. A radical redesign of the jet intakes solved this problem, but the program was canceled after only 5 were built. The program was stopped because the the Soviet switch in doctrine to tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield. Never started. This is a limited production model that features very good quality injection molded main parts, cast metal details including engine, cowling, propeller, machine guns and more, airfoil strut material and full decals. The decals are for the Belgian a/c on the box top and a paint guide is also included. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The Nieuport 10 was derived from a racing aircraft intended to complete in the Gordon Bennett Races. The British Royal Navy were the first to place and order and received 24 of the aircraft. The design proved successful and the Nieuport 10 also served with the Belgian, French and Russian Air Forces.
