Aurora McDonnell F-4H Phantom, 1/48, 394-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

First issue dated 1961 with oval sunburst logo and 'Famous Fighters' in the logo border. Large 1/48 scale early Phantom kit with great Jo Kotula box artwork. Nicely detailed kit for that time with cockpit, full landing gear, four AIM-7 Sparrow missiles, a tiny additional F-4H scale model (measuring only 1.5 inches long) and a large, clear 'Triangle World' display stand. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the instructions have some bug damage on the surface (not all the way through) of the cover page. The decals have bug damage to the backing paper only; they did not damage the actual transfers. The box may display slightly better than 'good' but is rated as such because of the litho chip at the upper right hand corner as shown and very similar chips on the three lower side corners. There also general additional wear as well.

Cox F8F Bearcat - Beetle Bomb - Electric Powered U-Control Flying Aircraft, 9501

Maircraft TWO Piper Cub Trainer - Solid Wood Model Airplane, 1/48, S-2

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

SALE! Includes two complete kits and one plan. Maircraft was originally founded in the early or mid 1930s by Gordon Christoph and went by the name Aircraft Model Company. The company produced a typical line of solid 'profile cut' kits that required the usual high talent levels for carving and finishing. A former Comet Model Airplane & Supply Co. salesman, Jack Mair, bought the company in the early 1940s and renamed it Maircraft. This company was one of the handful of solid kit producers who issued models in a consistent 1/48 scale during the 1930s and 1940s (others included Hawk and Dyna-Model). This lead to one of the most desirable and rare model kits ever produced in the USA - the wood/plastic 1/48 United DC-3 model issued immediately after World War 2. Other than the P-61 and a few other Maircraft offerings, most were simple kits that sold for the low price of about 35 cents and gave the owners many hours of pleasurable work. This kit features a full size plan, 3D cut fuselage, profile cut wings and tail feathers and finished wheels. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Revell SMS Seeadler - Sea Eagle - German WWI Commerce Raider, 1/232, 5473

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

Sold

1991 reissue from the rare 1960 molds. This ship is a fascinating subject -the famous WWI sailing commerce raider of Count Felix Von Luckner. Well detailed for that time. Full hull model is molded in white and includes standing and running rigging thread & full rigging instructions. It has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The SMS Seeadler was a unique WWI raider in that it was not designed to elude the British blockade and break out to sea...it was designed to pass right through the blockade within full view of the British before attacking allied shipping around the world. No detail was overlooked in the Seeadler's preparation, right down to a Norwegian-speaking crew. The plan went perfectly - and the Seeadler passed inspection at the British Blockade. Her non-threatening appearance helped her in an active and colorful raiding career that nearly went around the world. I highly recommend reading any of several books that you can find about this ship. Von Luckner himself became quite a celebrity for his exciting exploits.
