Includes very detailed full size plans and instructions. The kit has never been started. Inside, all of the parts are still sealed in the factory clear bags. Includes all paperwork. The Victory Ships were designed to replace the Liberty ships of WWII. 531 were ultimately built. They were larger, more powerful, faster, longer ranged and made their appearance in 1944. Steaming at 15 to 17 knots allowed them to be much more effective at evading U-boats. They were so successful that they became the basis of the US Merchant Marine after the war.

Very rare, large-scale deluxe edition from the late 1940s/very early 1950s. This version is hardly ever seen. Measures 29 inches long and 16 inches high when built. Features a 90%+ cut factory wooden hull, four factory sealed bags of metal fittings (over 100 fittings total), a large sheet of beautiful sail cloth, numerous hardwood dowels and pre-cut square wood of many sizes, metal stock, two types of rigging thread, colorful flag sheet and fantastic full size plans that have detailed assembly instructions and rigging diagrams. Inside, the kit is exactly as it left the factory. The fittings are all in clear bags stapled to the original Ideal 'blue' backing cardstock. Sail cloth, printwood and wood stock are all held together with the original factory rubber bands. Even the original factory packing tissue is present. The box is complete and very nice, but the corners are repaired from the inside correctly as they had split. The plans have never been unfolded but have some damage to one side from the way they were packed by Ideal. They are still completely usable. The three-masted Marion Sprague schooner was built in 1899. Being far more economical to operate than the large, two-masted schooner, they soon monopolized all coastal trade up and down the US seaboard after the civil war. Ideal was a famous producer of early model kits. In 1911 they released their first aircraft kit, which put them among the first USA model companies. Ideal was unique also in that they released large civil ships and ocean liners.

Rare first issue of this all-time classic and in good condition outside and dead mint condition inside. Hardbox is dated 1961. Although not perfect, this box is in well above-average 'good++' condition with great color and gloss, four solid corners, no stains, zero fading and no stains. There is no tape other than the factory sealing tape. The original price tag is still on the right short side panel. Flaws include edge and corner wear and scrapes at the upper right as shown. If you know these kits, you know they are usually in much worse condition. This model is still widely considered to be the best visible airplane action kits ever made. Features a full cut away model with interior detail. Buttons on the base activate two motors that make the prop spin, and the main gear and tail wheel retract and extend; two other levers on the base drop the wing bombs. Molded in the correct first edition shades of clear, red, black, silver and zinc chromate green. Inside, this kit is as it left the factory. All of the special presentation cardboard is in 'mint' condition and the two motors are still sealed. The parts were still wrapped in the original factory tissue and never even viewed until I did the inventory; I have carefully returned everything to the exact same position as it came int. It has never been started and is inventoried complete with all parts present. Instructions and decals are correct for the first issue and feature the 'Horse' stand decal. The decals are in amazing 'near mint' condition with only the smallest amount of yellowing as the only flaw. The instructions are in 'near mint++' condition, again with very slight yellowing as the only flaw.
