NOTE: this kit has very minor and 'professional' quality assembly to two pieces: the lower superstructure is glued to the hull. There is no other assembly but 8 of 9 gun barrels have been sanded to shape (to 'excellent' quality) and the main turrets have had the edges beveled as per the instructions to 'very good' quality. The kit has been inventoried and NOTE: missing two small and very thin die-cut wooden parts. These are easy to make as the die-cut sheet provides a perfect template. Includes instructions. Monogram Republic F-105D Thunderchief - Blue Box Issue, 1/72, PA149-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Second issue dated 1966. This is a quality kit from the older, modified 'Four Star' molds (see below). Includes drop tanks, bombs, opening canopy, pilot figure, ground crewman and boarding ladder. Molded in green, light gray and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals. This is a fine time to outline the mold changes that Monogram made on their Thud model. The Four Star issue was much closer to the very early or prototype aircraft. For the 'Blue Box' issue Monogram did a very nice upgrade. The two rear-vision windows behind the cockpit were removed, the 'spring' for the ejecting pilot was left out, the revolving bomb bay and nuclear bomb was replaced with the new fuselage, two supersonic drop tanks and external bombs. The kit was molded in two colors and had new decals, both of which reflected the bombing role in South East Asia.

Sterling Fokker D-8 Drops Bombs In Flight (D-VIII) - 21 Inch Wingspan for RC / Control Line / Free Flight, A16

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

Sold

Still factory sealed and rare in this condition. 21 inch wingspan stick-and-tissue model can be flown R/C, free flight or control line. Includes innovative system for automatically dropping twin bombs in flight. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they featured color decals, high-grade die cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, plastic wheels (if required), finished wire landing gear, rubber motor and plastic prop, full size plans with instruction details and full instructions for conversion to RC or control line.

Aurora Nieuport 11 French Fighter, 1/48, 101

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

SALE! Dated 1956, but this is a 1960s issue with the later John Steel artwork and blue oval 'Aurora' logo with no 'Famous Fighters.' Molded in silver and black and includes the small ground base and mechanic figure. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business. Thanks to Eugene DuBey, we know some history on the aircraft that Aurora modeled. The tail # on the kit rudder is 1354, the number of a Nie 16 that served with "CAM de Dunquerke / St Pol sur Mer", 1916-17.
