H&F Model Airplane Co The Bee - 48 inch Wingspan Free Flight or R/C

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$89

H&F was out of Brooklyn, NY in the 1930/40s. Rare 1930s free flight model for B Class Competition. Since this model is super-stable, it would make an ideal conversion to RC. This model came from the estate of a very active and particular early aircraft kit collector. It is like factory-new inside and has not been started - it even includes 1930s style low profile wheels/tires. Complete with all parts, plans and decals (if originally included). Designed for 'Sniffing Thermals', the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and early gas powered models, all powered by Brown engines, took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under power, but then glide sufficiently - all without any operator inputs once the airplane took off.

Revell USS Pennsylvania BB38 Battleship - Sea Power Issue, 1/426, H422-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$125

1961 Sea Power softbox release. Rare kit of the Arizona's sister ship. The Pennsylvania was in dry-dock during the December 7th Pearl Harbor attack and survived with minimal damage. She was rebuilt and saw significant action in the Pacific in WWII, steaming over 150,000 miles from 1941 to 1945. It is thought that she may have fired more ammunition than any ship in history and she never once reported 'Not Ready' for any operation or need. After being used as a nuclear test ship at Bikini, she was towed to Kwajalein and sunk. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals, flag sheet and instructions.

Hudson Miniatures 1904 Oldsmobile Curved Dash Old Timers, 1/16

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$75

Dated 1949 and very well detailed for that time. Big scale kit features numerous die-cut and machined-to-shape wooden parts, beautiful plastic wheels and lanterns and a small number of metal parts, accessories and die-cut cardstock. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag and all other parts have been inventoried present. Includes large, excellent, detailed plans with instructions. The 1904 Oldsmobile was the first production car in America and was considered very dependable. To emphasize its simplicity and dependability, Oldsmobile invented the slogan 'Nothing to Watch but the Road.' Gus Edward's hit song of 1905, 'In My Merry Oldsmobile' was a tribute to the popularity of the car. It was powered by a single cylinder engine of 4.5 horsepower. Hudson Miniatures created a very popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well...so well that you could argue that Gowland & Gowland borrowed Hudson's subject matter for their ground-breaking 'Highway Pioneers.' The Hudson Miniatures 'Old Timers' even spawned a line of imitators, with Fador's 'Smallster' being one of the better in quality. Sales did drop on the appearance and popularity of the much smaller (and less accurate) Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. When the all-injection molded Gowland kits proved not to be a passing fad, Hudson quickly planned and released his own all-plastic, small-scale competition called 'Lil' Old Timers Quickie Kits.' The kits were of excellent quality, but it was too little too late. Additionally, sales of the excellent wooden kits faltered further in the next few years with the introduction of accurate, 1/24 and 1/32 all-plastic cars in the mid 1950s. This forced Hudson to discontinue the wood kits and the plastic line was sold to Revell and subsequently re-released. Today, these excellent, big 1/16 kits are often the only model available of these early automobiles. In the mid 1960s Aurora thought so highly of Hudson Miniatures that they purchased the wood kit assets and released a very small number of these in all-plastic models.

Hasegawa Sopwith Camel F.1 Museum Model, 1/16, MU01

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.
