Solid wood scale kit from about 1945. This is a high quality model for this type of kit. The fuselage, wings and pulse jet engine are accurately precut in two dimensions, which greatly speeds up assembly time. Includes an superb set of instructions with full size drawings, a full set of templates, full instructions, aircraft background and specifications, a nicely done cut away drawing of the V-1 and a display stand. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including all parts and instructions. Maircraft was originally founded in the early or mid 1930s by Gordon Christoph and went by the name Aircraft Model Company. The company produced a typical line of solid 'profile cut' kits that required the usual high talent levels for carving and finishing. A former Comet Model Airplane & Supply Co. salesman, Jack Mair, bought the company in the early 1940s and renamed it Maircraft. This company was one of the handful of solid kit producers who issued models in a consistent 1/48 scale during the 1930s and 1940s (others included Hawk and Dyna-Model), and eventually even made the 'Little Gem' series in constant 1/72 scale.

Original issue from 1956 with the classic boxart of this time period at Revell. Like most of Revell's older ship models, this one is well molded and well detailed. Features rotating turret with elevating guns, helicopter pad with helicopter and more. Includes full rigging instructions. Molded in the correct white, wood brown and butterscotch. NOTE: this kit has very minor 'professional' grade assembly as follows: four pieces (propeller housing halves) assembled. There is no other assembly. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals, flag sheet and instructions. The box is only 'good-' and not in collectible condition. The 269' U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eastwind, a Polar Class Icebreaker was commissioned on June 3, 1944. This cutter served in the North Atlantic during World War II, and on ice breaking in the Arctic and Antarctic. She was decommissioned in 1968.

Pyro Monitor and Merrimac Ironclads - American Civil War, B257-200

Still factory sealed and featuring great artwork by AJ Rudisill from the late 50s or early 1960s. The two American Civil war ships that spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the James River. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862. The Monitor is 10 inches long and the Merrimac is 11 inches long when built. Both are full hull models and include display stands. Although dated, these kits are generally considered superior to the Lindberg issues of the same ships.

Post called this the "World Jet Airliners" Series and for one Raisin Bran or Grape Nuts box top and 25 cents you had your choice of a TWA Convair 880, Pan Am Boeing 707, Air France Caravelle, Russian Tu-104, British BOAC Comet or Douglas DC-8 Delta Airlines. These are all quality small scale kits with very good detail for that time, full landing gear, display stand and full color decals. Never started.
