The prototype was displayed at the 1926 Salon de l'Aeronautique in Paris and first flew the same year. After testing it was quickly was ordered into service before the end of the year. The 37 was a conventional biplane flying boat very similar to previous CAMS designs, being driven by a pusher propeller whose engine was mounted on struts in the interplane gap. Series production was from 1928 to 1939. The first and main production version was the amphibious CAMS 37A that was bought by the French Navy, the Portuguese Navy and the aeroclub of Martinique. Most were shipboard spotter and recon aircraft for the French Navy, eight went to Portugal, then there was the 37.11 or 37E training flying boat and finally the 37Lia enclosed cabin liaison amphibian. Total production was about 150 with most going to the French Air Force and Navy. The CAMS 37A had a very active and successful career, serving aboard almost all of the Navy's capital ships. Trials were conducted by Compagnie Générale Transatlantique on the SS Île de France to evaluate operating catapult-launched mailplanes from transatlantic liners with two specially-built 37/10s. René Guilbaud made a famous and newsworthy long-distance flight over Africa and the Mediterranean between 12 October 1927 and 9 March 1927, venturing as far as Madagascar before returning to Marseille. In the course of the flight Guilbaud covered 22,600 km (14,000 mi) in 38 stages without incident. However, aviation was moving quickly during that time and soon the CAMS 37 was outdated. It was gradually withdrawn from front line duties in the mid-to-late 1930s, and when World War II started in September 1939, the aircraft had been relegated to training and communication roles. About 60 were still flying at the start of WWII. Some trainers remained in use after the Armistice with a single example joining the Free French Navy in Tahiti and even and with a Vichy France unit in Indochina until 1942. Some examples were reportedly sold to the aeroclub of Martinique

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

2005 reissue of the this 1962 masterpiece. In the early 1960s Monogram invested in a series of huge 1/8 scale models with extraordinary detail and working features. The complete line consisted of the Big 'T' Street/Rod (this model), Big Drag Competition Roadster, Big Rod Show/Go Roadster, Big Tub Custom Phaeton and Big Deuce '32 Ford Roadster. This issue of the Big T has over 220 precision parts. You can build it one of three ways which includes either shortened pickup truck bed, turtle-deck back or chrome round fuel tank, two different tops, chopped T or '32 Ford grill shells, bench or bucket seat interior and more. Advanced Molding Corp Ferrari 342 America Sports Car - (pre-Aurora), 1/32, 13

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

NOTE: builder only, please read carefully. Very rare and for the advanced builder/collector of early plastic models. Advanced Molding issued 7 pioneering plastic car kits in 1954. But in 1955, Aurora purchased the molds then released them (the first in '55) under the Aurora name and artwork. They became famous under the Aurora name but virtually unknown under the original Advanced label because they were issued for year or less. Advanced cleverly advertised all 7 kits on each box - the box top shows the kit inside, and the long side panels show 3 on each side. The 7 were the Cunningham, MG, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari Sportster, Corvette and Ferrari 342 America. This kit is the Ferrari Sportster, is molded in bright red with rubber tires. NOTE: this kit has the body shell assembled to 'professional' quality. Fit is perfect and the seams are puttied and sanded. There is no other assembly and zero painting. All parts are present. With instructions that include a nice history of the car. Advanced was located at 54 West 21st Street, New York 10, NY. After selling the cars, Advanced remained in the plastic model business with the Trailblazers HO train series in 1955 centered around the famous "General." It was issued as a locomotive and tender, or just the cars as set (passenger, mail combine, baggage, box car, flat car and caboose), or the cars each separately and the rare freight set which included the locomotive and tender, box car, flat car and caboose.
