Aurora issued three different box art variations for this kit between 1958 and the 1960s. The first box shows the airplanes in flight and has the FF Sunburst logo. The third issue has the 'on the ground' box art and the blue oval with no 'Famous Fighters'. This is the unusual and rare 2nd issue with the 'ground' artwork and FF Sunburst logo. Kit is still factory sealed but the seal has several tears. Box is NM.

But the Russians knew that a defense against high-altitude Stratigic Bombing should be developed. The result was the first aircraft designed by the great Sukhoi Design Firm, the Su-1. Rare and unusual limited release kit. These craft saw extensive use in Southeast Asia as patrol craft and escorts for river convoys. Fitted with conventional armor, they also had 'stand-off' armor of welded steel rods spaced about one foot from the hull and superstructure. This was intended to detonate RPG and other projectiles before they could hit the armor plate. Monitors often closed to within a few feet of shore to give fire support to troops. Model has no assembly but has minor painting done on the hull (lower red sectino only) and some small parts. Kit is complete except for two small parts that could be easily made: sqaure base for motor and motor support. Drawings of these two parts are furnished in the instructions.
