The brilliant aircraft designer Claudius Dornier filed at patent a design for an aircraft with two engines in 1937. The unique part was that both aircraft were located in the fuselage centerline, with one driving a propeller at the front and one a 'pusher' at the rear. There were many problems to solve before the airplane would become a reality. To test some of the concepts, Ulrich Hutter designed a small testbed aircraft featuring a rear pusher propeller, tricycle landing gear and a cruciform tail arrangement. The result was the Goppingen Go 9 built by Schempp-Hirth and powered by an 80 hp Hirth HM 60R engine mounted at aircraft CG. A long drive shaft drove the four blade wooden propeller. The designed proved to be a success. In time, Dornier submitted Projekt 231 to the Technische Amt. 231 became the Do-335, one of the fastest piston engined aircraft ever built. Never started. Still factory sealed.

Still factory sealed. This the second Yorktown of the Essex class which replaced the first one which was lost at the Battle of Midway. Launched in January of 1943 the Yorktown saw and incredible service ranging from WWII, then to Korea and finally in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War. Model is 20" inches long when built, has movable elevators and cranes, full decals and flags and has an airwing of S-2 Trackers and HH-3 Seaking Helicopters.

Park Plastics Born Losers Kits Adolf Hitler, 1/10

In the 1960s Park issued the "Born Losers" series. The Hitler one is the most infamous. The model features a display base showing the outside of the "The Bunker". Around it are reminders of WWII - a damaged panzer, a wrecked Luftwaffe aircraft, gun ports, a severed hand rising up from the ground, a damaged flag and of course a tombstone saying "Adolf Hitler History's Greatest Loser." The figure itself is done in a comic-like sense and has Hitler in a tattered uniform holding a gun to his head. Parents were outraged by this and the Aurora Horror Kits of the time. The public outcry was responsible for a very short production run. Park had designed the kit during the monster and figure craze and was betting on the success of the product. Many units were produced, but they found it almost impossible to sell them. This lead to some ingenious ways of off-loading the stock. The model is packaged in a plain cardboard box and is molded in semi-transparent white plastic. Never started. The kit is still in the factory sealed bag and includes instructions.
