Second issue from the mid 1960s. Softbox is dated 1962, but the kit is a few years later than that due to the box construction and the price extension of '250' instead of the original '249'. The parts are molded in the correct gray, silver and yellow. Includes the "Model Master" sticker and "Everything Is Go" booklet telling the story of the Friendship 7/Lt. Col. Glenn Flight. This kit was modified from the Atlas Ballistic Missile molds. It is single greatest model kit for the Mercury Atlas program. Contains highly detailed Atlas/Mercury, launching pad, ramp, tractor transports, nitrogen tank and trailer. Never started. Classic large-scale 'Action Model' in it's 1966 issue in the famous 'Blue Box'. Most likely the second issue of this kit. Canopy opens and closes to show highly detailed cockpit. Tiny levers under the wings drop 2 bombs. Knob on the bottom rotates and extends/retracts main gear and tailwheel; all gear doors including tailwheel open and close automatically with the gear. Not only do these features sound great, but they work. My built kit is 30 years old and functions like new! Great detail. Never started. 100% inventoried complete with all parts/decals and instructions present.

Nicely detailed kit of a rare subject. Features full deck detail, cannon, blocks, billowing sails and full rigging instructions. Kit is about 15 inches long when built. The Independence type top sail schooners were built at the Webb and Allen shipyard during the early 1800. Ten of this type were built and the new US Government used them to enforce and collect revenue duties. The ships had a small crew and were very fast for the day. The were armed with two nine-pounders and four six-pounders which could be moved around the deck to fire from different ports as needed. Never started.
