2001 Revell issue. From the same molds as the famous Revell Lancaster Dam Busters model and features 79 pieces, moveable control surfaces, special bomb, retractable landing gear and full crew. The Dam Busters squadron was famous for it's daring raids on three German dams on May 16, 1943. Carrying the special Barnes Wallis-designed bombs, the Lancasters flew very low over the water in the face of heavy flak to drop the rotating bombs perfectly. Many did not return. The bombs did perform as promised, first skipping over the water, hitting the dam, then rolling down 30 feet before exploding with tremendous force. In an airburst, these bombs would not have damaged the dams, but since water is incompressible, the dams were breached.

Factory sealed but the seal has a small split at the upper right as shown. Fantastic Jo Kotula artwork is dated 1960. This is actually a newer kit, likely from 1962-64 as it lacks the 'Famous Fighters' logo in the oval border. These molds are from one of Aurora's first two kits - the F9F and F-90. Aurora simply went out and purchased the early Hawk F9F and F-90 kits and copied them almost exactly.

Large 1/8 scale, 1970s issue of the engine that powered Lindberg's Spirit of St. Louis across the Atlantic Ocean. This is a highly detailed kit with over 150 parts. Complete engine includes crankcase, 9 cylinders, two magnetos, carburetor air heater, fuel pump, oil pump, accessories, mounting ring, carburetor and fuel system, vinyl wires for the distributor blocks, dual ignition system and more. A name plate label is included with a Wright J-5 decal. The kit has never been started. SALE!! Includes both model kits in excellent condition. The Piper Super Cub 95 has a 24" wingspan and is never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The Bf-109 has a 16 inch wingspan. It is never started. The smaller parts are still in the factory sealed bag; all other parts are inventoried complete. Includes decals and plans/instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production.
