Sterling P-51D Mustang Drops Bombs In Flight - 24 Inch Wingspan for R/C / Control Line / Free Flight, A13

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$79

From the early to mid 1960s. This kit is part of Sterling's expensive big-wingspan series that was designed for R/C and also includes numerous extra parts for control line operation. It can also be flown free-flight. Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model that features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, light plastic engine cowl, spinner, air scoop, exhaust manifolds, bomb and many other details, perfect condition vacuformed plastic canopy that is not even yellowed, rubber motor, plastic propeller, a big set of decals, coving tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. Never started. The small parts are still factory sealed in the Sterling bag; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.

Revell HMCS Snowberry Flower Class Corvette - Or USS Saucy Flower Class Corvette, 1/72, 05061

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Good

$225

Still factory 'round tape' sealed. This model includes optional parts and decals to build either ship. Includes a display stand.

Aurora Convair B-36 Giant Bomber, 1/333, 492-49

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$125

Rare early issue copyright dated 1956; please note the Northern Lights rectangular logo at the lower right. The box art is by the famous Jo Kotula. Inside, this kit is 100% correct with the early West Hempstead rectangular-base display stand, early decal sheet and even the instructions have this early stand illustrated. However, the instructions also have the Famous Fighters oval! That would make this kit late 1956/early 1957 right when Aurora was transitioning to the FF logo and just about to blot out the rectangle 'Northern Lights' logo. Molded in correct silver and clear plastic. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The box might grade slightly higher than 'excellent' but it rated as such because there is a factory tape pull about 3/4 x 1/4 inch on the long lower side.

Airfix Fairey Rotodyne, 1/72, 04002

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$48

1980s reissue from the original molds. This is a very good kit that is well detailed with 115 pieces. never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Rotodyne first flew in 1957. The purpose was to create the first true vertical take-off airliner that could operate from an area no larger than two tennis courts with a full load. The Rotodyne flew at up to 191 MPH with a range of 450 miles and a payload of 48 passengers or 5 tons of freight. Despite the excellent performance and a larger design in the works, the RAF never placed an order and BEA never placed a firm order. The project was discontinued in 1962.

Rare 1940s issue that features traditional wood/tissue construction, printwood, factory-cut stringers, detailed full size plans with building instruction notes and covering tissue. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. $44

This deluxe issue dates from the early 1970s. It is a large scale, robust design for rubber or gas free flight, or easily converted to RC using modern tiny and light servos and receivers.
