Dyna-Model North American F-82 Twin Mustang - Wood and Metal Model Aircraft, 1/48

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

In the 'Golden Age of Aviation Modeling' (1930s and '40s), most modelers built the flying 'stick and tissue' type kits with rubber, CO2 or gas power. But there were a small but measurable percent that built solid aircraft display models of great detail. This required great skill worthy of the shipbuilders of old, especially considering the limited technology. Many manufacturer's kits consisted of blocks of wood and a plan - the famous (or infamous) 'Make Wood Look Like Plane' kits. A few, like Dyna-Model Products Company, attempted to provide true-scale static models with a high level of detail. Today Dyna-Models are legendary and sought after collectibles. When you first open the kit, you see a black and white cardstock display with all the needed jigs and templates for assembly. Underneath, the twin fuselages are rough carved to ~95% of final shape (not just profile cut) and all other parts are either profile (2D) or die cut. Includes color decals, full size high-quality plans and the crowning jewel, a box of finished metal castings for super detailing your aircraft. The model has been inventoried complete with all parts and plans present. NOTE: one vertical stabilizer has been neatly assembled (to "professional" quality) on one fuselage. There is no other assembly.

Guillows Piper Super Cub 95 - 24 inch Wingspan for Free Flight or R/C Conversion, 303

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Sold

Still factory sealed and from the 1970s. This is a large scale well detailed kit that can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight, or converted to electric RC using today's small and light servos and receivers. Well detailed with scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, vacuform cowl, full color decals, colored tissue, die cut balsa parts, strip wood, rubber motor, plywood firewall and excellent full size plans. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production.

MPC TWO Kaman SH-2F Seasprite / THREE Kamov Ka-25 Hormone / TWO Mil Mi-24 Hind, 1/72, 1-4210

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+ to Exc

Sold

SALE!! Includes all 7 kits in the boxes shown. NOTE: Sold AS-IS and not inventoried. This collector was very meticulous. Of the many thousands of his kits that I did inventory, 95+% are complete. But on these kits he cut the sprue (trees) with the part numbers still attached to each number, so the parts are loose. Because of that, I have not inventoried these kits. NOTE: these kits have 'professional' quality sub-assembly, usually the cockpit tubs, stub wings and some rocket pod halves & weapons. Again, these kits are sold not inventoried and AS IS hence the very low price.

Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The box displays better than the 'good++' grade but is ranked as such because the small panel with with the 'Golden Opportunity' tokens (on the side) has been neatly cut away.

Revell British Canberra Bomber Whip-Fly, 1/81, H157-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Rare kit from 1961 that also includes the Master Modeler Collectors Stamp and Club application form. The fantastic artwork of an RAF Canberra flying over 'The Rock' was originally painted by Akimoto. The Whip-Fly issue is based on the 1950s B-57 "S" kit and comes with RAF decals, flight ballast, handle, 12 feet of control line, control ring, colorful streamers for the jet engines and a underside pod which is a in-flight whistle! Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The complete Whip-Fly series included are H151 F9F-8 Cougar, H152 F-84F, H153 F-89D Scorpion, H154 F8U-1 Crusader, H155 F-39 Airacobra, H156 F-101A Voodoo, Canberra, F-106 and Yak-25 Flashlight. The Whip-Fly series seemed like a good idea...at first. Revell quickly realized that spinning heavily-ballasted, sharp objects at dizzying speeds in or outside the home near groups of children was potentially unsafe. The series was quickly discontinued.
