Rare original issue 1958 'S' kit that is in 'excellent' condition. The colors and gloss as are new and the box has four solid corners, no repairs, no tape (other than the factory sealing tape, of course), no stains and no missing litho. Flaws include light, general wear as shown and light corner & edge wear. This model represents the first test Regulus II with landing gear; Vought did this to the prototype and test missiles to save significant money in the testing phases. Very nicely molded in a beautiful deep gloss blue and with very good detail down to the gear well interiors. Includes display 'runway' base. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both 'excellent' with typical light age yellowing a the only real flaw.

Monogram Speedee Bilt B-25 Mitchell - Wood and Plastic Model Aircraft, H-1

Wood and Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$369

Rare early Monogram kit from the early 1950s. Fantastically well detailed and presented multi-media kit with 34 injection molded clear, red, black and gray acetate and 57 die cut or shaped balsa parts including the famous Monofoil pre-formed wing. This example has never been started and is inventoried 100% complete with all parts, glue, dope, decals, sand paper, plans and instruction book. It still has all of the correct internal display cardboard as shown. NOTE: the decals are only in 'good' condition and have some damage as shown. Please note that this kit must be shipped insured. This is the first large-scale non-flying scale Speedee-Bilt model, the B-25 Mitchell. Before there were plastic models, there were wooden aircraft kits. These usually came in two types - solid and stick and tissue. The solid models were static and usually contained a few blocks of balsa and sometimes a detail part or two. These "Make Wood Look Like Plane" models required a very high level of skill in carving and finishing. The stick and tissue variety were slightly easier to build and provided the ultimate thrill - they could fly when complete with rubber power (and later with free-flight gas and eventually RC). They still required a great deal of skill, so manufacturers sought ways to make model building more accessible to everyone. One idea was pre-carving and/or prefabrication. This raised prices, naturally. Many manufacturers launched lines of 'easy' to build flying models but only Monogram succeeded in making an entire line at an affordable price that would actual fly. Monogram, however, wanted to make true scale models that could still be assembled easily. So they created the four large and highly detailed non-flying scale Speedee-Bilt bombers - the B-25, B-26, B-24 and B-17. The kits were a tremendous success and sold well in the early to mid 1950s.

Heller Etendard IV With Automatic Landing Gear and Speed Brakes, 1/50, L500

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$229

Very rare large-scale kit with fascinating operating features. This early 1960s issue has very high gloss box top artwork in 'excellent' condition. Flaws include very light corner creases as shown, some light general wear and a small piece of clear tape on the top long side. The model uses a complex series of 6 cogs and gears with wire springs and twine to make functioning landing gear and speed brakes. When you lower the arresting (tail) hook, the landing gear doors open and the nose and main wheels extend. When you raise the arresting hook, the landing gear retracts and the doors close. Furthermore, when you pull out the parachute release at the tail, the speed brakes lower; when you close it, the speed brakes close. The kit is molded in the correct silver for the airframe, white cogs, gears & pilot, clear two piece opening canopy, real rubber tires and metal springs. There is a large gloss black Heller stand as well. Never started. All of the small parts (white plastic, springs and internal linkage for the operating systems) are still in the factory sealed bag. All other parts are inventoried complete and includes decals and instructions present. Even the original Heller Quality Control paper is present. The instructions are 'excellent.' The decals are flat and intact with the wax covering sheet and 'very good.' The only flaw is the usual age yellowing. Postal insurance is required for this kit.

Adams 280mm Atomic Cannon With 2 Gun Transporters - M65, 1/40, K153-398

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$565

Very rare and even more so in this condition. Classic Cold-War kit from the late 1950s. The Atomic Cannon was the Army's 20 mile range gun that could fire shells that contains small atomic bombs. The model is very highly detailed for that time and features transporters with movable wheels, towing yokes, fully detailed cab interiors & complete suspension, elevating and swiveling machine guns; the Atomic Cannon itself can be configured for firing or towing positions, the barrel elevates by real operating gears, the carriage rotates 360 degrees on platform and it actually fires 2 "Atomic" shells. Includes crew of 7. Inside, the model is factory new. It has never been started.. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bags; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions. The decals are absolutely flat and in 'Good++' condition with the typical yellowing and a very light stain as the main flaws. The instructions are in 'very good++' condition with very light wear and typical yellowing as the only flaws. The box has like-new color and gloss. There are no tears, no price tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks (other than the factory sealing tape), four solid corners, no repairs and no fading. However, it does have light to moderate general shelf wear as shown, mainly on the edges. There is one small factory tape litho pull on the upper long side which measures 1/2" x 3/8". The amazing M65 280mm atomic cannon originally started life as a conventional artillery piece. Development first began in 1944 before the first atomic weapon had been tested. Far from being 'just another giant gun', the M65 was carefully designed to be a very mobile and versatile weapon. Liberal use of aluminum and other light-weight metals kept the weight of the gun and both transports to about 85 tons, which is not much more than the largest conventional gun of WWII. As a result, it is light enough to be carried by trucks and cross bridges without collapsing them. Size was also a major factor, as it can fit inside landing craft, turn street corners of an amazingly small radius and travel as fast at 35 mph. The two transporters are required to move the gun, with one in back and one in front. Power is supplied to each tractor by a 6 cylinder engine with 375 horsepower. Both transmissions are manually controlled. These 4x4 machines can push, pull or parallel one another - with the gun slung between them. The driver of the front tractor has control of the brakes and throttles of both units and can communicate to the rear driver by telephone. The gun can be traversed in a complete circle and has a range of up to 20 miles. A complete 280mm batter consisted of two guns, four 5-ton trucks towing ammunition trailers, another two trucks pulling a pair of generator trailers (each with a 30 KW generator to furnish power to the guns, a 5th truck carrying four shell carts and a 2 1/2 ton shop van. The total crew was about 100 men. Each gun could be set up to fire in less than 12 minutes and can fire a round every two minutes.

Rare 1957 first and only Revell issue in investment-grade "Near Mint" condition. When sales of the dramatic XSL-01 Moon Rocket did not meet expectations, Revell molded the top stage in a different color plastic from the XSL-01, added a special 3D Moon Base Stand and boxed it as this stand-alone kit. The result was this Moon Ship with incredible box art. Competition Models Inc Starduster 600 - 61 Inch Wingspan Gas Powered Free Flight Model

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$119

This large model is 35.5" long and has a 71" wingspan. This is one of the famous Sal Taibi's National award winning designs for use with 'hot' engines .15 to .29 displacement. Sal was one of the early 'Kings Of Gas Free Flight' and a very gifted designer. Feature high quality balsa and plywood parts, spar and strip wood, metal stock as required, aluminum motor mount, hardware and excellent full size plans. Never started and inside it is in factory-new condition. The small parts are still in the factory sealed clear bag; the other parts have been inventoried complete with the plans. NOTE: this kit was shipped in the very sturdy box shown. Unless you specify otherwise, we will send it wrapped in brown paper. If you wish to have it boxed, extra postage will apply. Designed for 'Sniffing Thermals,' the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and powered models (most all driven by Brown engines) took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under power, but then glide sufficiently - all in a stable fashion and without any operator inputs once the airplane took off.

Cleveland P-61 Black Widow - 49 1/2 Inch Wingspan For R/C Or Free Flight Or Giant Scale Display, 1/16, SF155

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$269

Very Rare, giant 1/16 scale kit. Ideal kit for electric power and conversion to RC. This model is in the original plain but sturdy cardboard box with 'Cleveland' stamped in ink on it and the name of the kit and kit number on the left short side. The kit came from a long time collector of 1930s and 1940s models and is in exceptional condition. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Features very high quality balsa printwood, factory cut spars & strip wood, covering material, two huge sheets of very high quality plans in never-used condition, all required wood blocks, completely finished nacelles, finished main and nose wheels, propeller blades, all required metal stock, clear material for canopy and windshield, two sheets of color insignia and more. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called 'The Aviation Craze' that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest operating single-owner model airplane supply business, called Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviations great Recruiter, Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.

Amodel Tupolev Tu-126 Moss, 1/72, 72017

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$189

Rare and the only 1/72 scale injection-molded kit ever made of this Soviet airborne radar/early warning aircraft. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Tupolev TU-126 Moss (NATO Designation) was based on the obsolete Aeroflot TU-114 Airliner, itself developed from the TU-95 (TU-20) Bear turboprop bomber first flown in the 1950s. The Tupolev Bear and derivatives have the distinction of being the fastest propeller driven aircraft in the world. First identified in 1968, the Moss is believed to have entered service in 1971, the exact number used by Soviet Forces being unknown. The TU-126 has been assessed by Western sources as being of only limited capability, being unable to detect cruise missiles or small aircraft at low level. Commencing in the early 1980s the Beriev A-50 Mainstay began development to replace the TU-126 in service. With greater capability than the Moss, operational examples began being fielded in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
