This large scale destroyer escort is dated 1968 and motorized for operation in water. It features an electric motor, battery holder, one-piece hull, scale propeller, drive propeller, ballast weight holder that attaches to the bottom of the hull so she rides on an even keel, separately molded 5" main turrets, 40mm guns and 20mm guns with separate shields, torpedo tubes, depth charges and more. Could be made remote control with today's tiny systems (R/C gear not included). Never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one part, #14 gun directly. Basically is it two different size cylinders and easy to make. Otherwise includes all other parts and instructions. NOTE: missing decals, which consisted of two hull bow numbers.

1960s Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of their kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box. The model includes brilliant blue injection molded parts, clear parts, detailed chassis, complete engine, removable hood and full interior. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

1967 hardbox issue with A.J. Rudisill artwork. This is Pyro's famous full hull, large-scale model of Admiral Dewey's flagship which still exists as a museum ship. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. NOTE: while there is no assembly, someone neatly applied a soft glue (like rubber cement) to the inside of the hull. The glue is still soft and I could pick it off with my fingernail. The glue did not melt the plastic, so the hulls are in excellent condition. Some 400 grit sandpaper would remove the glue much more efficiently than using fingernails. In addition to her more famous role in the War with Spain, Olympia went on to active service in World War I, the Allied intervention in Russia, and as flagship in the Mediterranean, 1919. She is preserved today as a museum ship and one of the very few protected cruisers left in the world.

Although these kits were a huge improvement over the offerings from the 1950s, they were too few and too late to save the company.
