Smaller scale repro kit of the famous competition free-flight aircraft. For .020 power free flight or RC. This model came from the estate of a very active and particular early aircraft kit collector. It is like factory-new inside and has not been started. Complete with all parts, plans and decals (if originally included). Designed for 'Sniffing Thermals', the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and powered models (most all driven by Brown engines) took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under power, but then glide sufficiently - all in a stable fashion and without any operator inputs once the airplane took off.

Never started. Factory sealed internal bag with decals and instructions. This kit is from quality Airfix molds and is one of the MPC issues with custom decals and the unique clear modular display stand. Dates from the late 1960s/early 1970s. Note that this issue still has 'Craft Master' under the MPC logo. Before this, MPC was marketing Airfix kits under the Craftmaster name in the USA. This continued for several issues and was finally discontinued although MPC continued to distribute Airfix and their own models.

Please note that the instructions have three holes for a binder and the decal sheet was neatly cut so the decals could fit in a protective envelope. Only the blank backing paper is cut. This kit is highly prefabricated and made from plywood, high grade balsa and other wood. Most parts are cleanly die-cut to shape. Solid pieces, such as 5 inch turrets, hull sections, smoke stacks and many more are pre-cut to shape. Includes plans, instructions, running hardware and decals. The kit has never been started. Inside it is like new. The parts have not been punched and are in the original sheets. Many parts are still factory sealed. The contents were only disturbed to ensure that everything was present. 1956 first and only issue. This rare kit contains all five aircraft models. The box is very good with excellent color and gloss, no tape or tape marks, no price tag or tag marks, no litho tears and three solid corners. The other corner has been correctly repaired with glue from the inside. There is light wear and a crease at the lower left, but the main flaw is one all of these boxes share - there is the left over marks from the ribbon that Revell wrapped the kits in. Inside, the kit has the two factory dividers. All kits contain the famous Revell clear 'Globe' stand. The kits have never been started. Four of them are still factory sealed in the factory bags with the decals and instructions. The B-57 bag was opened, but it has not been started and is inventoried 100% complete and correct with all parts, decals and instructions. Shipping insurance is required on this kit.
