Lindberg Monitor and Merrimac, 718

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

1986 issue These kits (from the box art and inside) appear to be the much more accurate Pyro molds and not the original Lindberg kits. The kit has no assembly BUT the hulls below the waterline are painted copper. You can simply paint over it or strip it with oven cleaner or other safe, tested paint stripper for plastic. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions. These two American Civil War ships spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the James River. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862.

Pyro 1948 Lincoln Continental, 1/25, C502-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Mid 1960s release from the original older molds. The only larger scale kit of this classic car. Edsel Ford himself sketched the design for the large V-12 equipped convertible with the assistance of Bob Gregory. The cars were incredibly popular. This was likely due to good looks and not the power plant; it made only 125 hp and was always troublesome. Good kit for it's time with detailed engine, removable hood and convertible top, and molded in blue, clear, chrome and with real rubber tires. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. NOTE: instructions are photocopies.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Even the instructions are the Revell issue with the name 'Entex' put over the Revell logo. Measures 22.25 inches long when built. The kit has never been started. The Great Eastern (originally Leviathan) was the work of English Designer I.K. Brunel. In the 1850s there was a need for large ocean liners to carry the immigrant trade, but none existed. Shipping companies also wanted the interiors of ocean liners to look like hotels, but there simply no space. This ship was to solve that problem. She was launched in 1857 and five times bigger than any other ship of the day! The 22,500 ton Great Eastern was 693 feet long and carried 4000 passenger. Unfortunately, her career was one mishap after another until she laid the Trans-Atlantic cable.

The Hawk P-36A has the dubious distinction of fighting on both sides and for more countries than any other plane in history during the opening years of WWII. This Hawk, one in a long progression of famous fighter aircraft, was the winner of a 1935 competition. The USAA Corps received the first aircraft in April of 1938 and the French ordered 100 aircraft in May of the same year. French Hawks shot down just over 30 German planes during the battle for France. The Germans captured the aircraft and sold them to Finland. Others were captured when the Germans overran Norway. In all over 800 Hawks were produced and served in China, Netherlands East Indies, Portugal, Great Britain, Thailand, Argentina and Peru. Although an excellent fighter in 1935, the Hawk was outclassed by the time the war started but when flown properly still gave a good account of itself.
