Hudson Miniatures 1909 Ford Model T Touring Car, 1/16

Wood and Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$62

Early multi-media kit of wood, metal and plastic dated 1949 on the box. Large 1/16 scale kit measures 8 inches long when built. Very nicely detailed with all the complicated parts cast in yellow, light tan or ivory injection molded plastic. Includes full size plans and instructions. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Hudson Miniatures created a very successful and popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well until the appearance of the much smaller and less scale Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. When the all-injection molded Gowland kits proved that they were not a passing fad, Hudson quickly planned and released his own small scale competition for them called 'Lil' Old Timers Quickie Kits'. The kits were of excellent quality, but it was too little too late. Sales of wooden kits faltered in the next few years with the introduction of all-plastic injection molded cars in the mid 1950s. This forced Hudson to discontinue both lines. Today, these excellent kits are often the only large-scale models available of these early automobiles.

Aurora-KB Fokker E-V (D-VIII) - Polish Air Force, 1/48, 1135-170

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$48

1972 issue with revised molds and better quality. Includes pilot, ground crewman and battle terrain base. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. The aircraft represented in this kit fought with the Polish Air Force against the Ukranian forces in 1919 but by that point it was a D-VIII. The Fokker E.V was a fantastic performer and the result of a longtime Fokker development, the cantilever wing. In addition to greatly reducing drag, a properly built cantilever wing is very light and strong. This wing was first used on prototype V17 and then on V28 which took part in the Second Fight Competition (July 6-14 1918) where the most experienced German front line pilots chose new fighters for late war service. V28 was chosen for it's excellent flying properties and 200 of the production aircraft, known as the Fokker E.V, were ordered. Over 289 aircraft were delivery. The E.V began front line service on August 5, 1918; Lt. Emil Rolff of Jasta 6 reported an aerial victory on August 17. However, the day before, an E.V suffered catastrophic wing failure. Two days later, the same failure cost Lt. Rolff his life. All E.Vs were immediately grounded. A detailed investigation showed that there were fatal defects in the wing assembly caused by slack manufacturing processes. Although it was not his fault, Fokker took this opportunity to re-design and strengthen the wing. Existing E.V aircraft received new wings and newly built aircraft were designated D.VIII. Modified aircraft made it back to the front in November, too late for service. However, the aircraft saw active service after that war with the Freikorps air units, the Polish Air Force against Russia, the Dutch Air Force and an unspecified number went to France and the USA.

Varney P.F.E (Pacific Fruit Express) 40' Wood Refrigerator (Reefer) Car - Wood and Metal HO Scale Craftsman Train Kit, HO, R-17

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$48

Varney was one of the most known names in early HO model railroading. Gordon Varney was visionary in early business years. When HO was just gaining in popularity in the late 1930s, Varney sold all of his successful 'O' gauge moldings and casting to concentrate exclusively on HO gauge. Judging from the style of kit, this one is from the 1930s. Features very neatly precut and shaped roof, floor board and ends cut to final shape, other stripwood as needed, metal ladders and fittings, some very early style injection molded parts (such as ice hatches), other metal parts and stock as needed, very colorful and highly detailed cardstock embossed car sides done in bright orange PFE with the Union Pacific logo (correct for this car and kit), and brown embossed car ends. The kit has not been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions present. The car sides and end are in 'excellent+' condition.
