Dated 1946. This well designed kit is primarily wood with plastic wheels and tires and with some metal details and other metal parts. Features main wood parts that are all cut to profile (cut in two dimensions) or die cut and other wood stock such as dowels and blocks. There are four excellent plastic one-piece wheels with tread and a small clear wax paper sack with some small metal parts (like a steering wheel, etc.). There are excellent instructions with detailed building text, full size three view drawings, photos of the assembly process and a very nice photo of the built model. Never started. The kit has been inventoried with all parts present, and the small parts bag is still factory sealed. The famous modeler Gordon A. Babb founded Ace in 1942. Mr. Babb was born in 1897 and became a well-known builder and competitor in the model field with aircraft and cars. National 'how to' hobby magazines often carried details articles about how to build his designs. In his first year in business, he sold 1,800 jeep kits. By 1952 the line had greatly expanded the line to hot rods, T-rods, midgets, roadsters and much more and he was expecting to sell 600,000 model kits. Mr. Babb was famous for inventing the first gas-powered midget racer model which sparked a nation-wide building spree and speed competition. His 'Ace Model Shop' was in Pasadena, California and the mailing address was 60 N. San Gabriel Blvd. Later the address was simply Ace Products, Pasadena 8, California. Most solid 'display' kit producers in the 1940s simply provided plans and blocks of wood, maybe with a few accessories. Ace went well beyond that with all cut-out parts, fully formed wheels and even some metal parts, occasionally small plastic details and sometimes even decals. The plans went well beyond the average also, featuring numerous views (not just three), detail views for sub-assemblies and even text instructions. There were at least 15 car kits in the line and also many military vehicles which were popular kits in World War 2. We don't know what happened to Ace 'Models Of Merit' but the introduction of plastic kits (started by the Highway Pioneers) put an end to most wood kit production.

From 1949/1950. Although Ford is not mentioned, there is no mistaking that this is the 1949 Ford Club Coupe, from the all-new line of cars that saved the Ford Motor Company. This well designed prefabricated model is primarily wood with plastic wheels and tires and with some metal details and other metal parts. Features main wood parts that are all cut to profile (cut in two dimensions) or die cut and with other wood stock such as dowels. There are four excellent one-piece plastic wheels/tires with tread, a number of metal parts (like a steering wheel, hubcaps etc.), metal stock and even decals. There are excellent instructions with detailed building text, full size three view drawings, photos of the assembly process and a very nice photo of the built model. This kit is designed to be motorized; however, Ace did not include the motorizing parts with the car and they had to be purchased separately. Never started. Inventoried complete and includes decals and instructions. The famous modeler Gordon A. Babb founded Ace in 1942. Rare 1957 first and only Revell issue in investment-grade "Near Mint" condition. When sales of the dramatic XSL-01 Moon Rocket did not meet expectations, Revell molded the top stage in a different color plastic from the XSL-01, added a special 3D Moon Base Stand and boxed it as this stand-alone kit. The result was this Moon Ship with incredible box art. The box art invites you to 'Enter the Age of Space' with these action features: retractable landing ski, removable fuselage section with detailed cabin with controls and instrument panels and a crew of three astronauts. Molded in correct baby blue plastic. This model has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Box condition details: The color and gloss are perfect. The box looks as if it was just removed from the original shipping box. It actually displays 'Mint' but is graded as 'Near Mint' because there is a very small factory tape litho pull on the long upper long side. The litho pull is on the bottom edge and measures 7mm x 7mm.

Very rare first and only issue dated 1958. This version of Revell's large F-102 includes all the ground equipment and crew shown on the front cover. The F-102 aircraft features landing gear and flaps the retract and extend when canopy is opened and closed, removable rear section and detailed engine, engine, movable control surfaces, opening weapons bay with Falcon missiles and more. The ground equipment includes mobile staircase with work platform, tow tug with driver, 'Restricted Area' signs, trailer tongue, missile loading trailer, power cable trailer with reels, engine-hauling trailer, engine unloading trailer, three missile racks, kneeing mechanic figure and mechanic figure with clipboard. The F-102 is molded in silver and clear while the ground equipment is molded in bright yellow. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, both correct decal sheets and both sets of instructions present. Both instruction sets are in 'excellent+++' condition. Both decal sheets are perfectly flat, 100% intact and in 'excellent++' condition with slight yellowing as the only flaw. NOTE: while all parts are present, the tiny axles are broken off of the missile trailer and missing. This is unfortunately common with this kit because they are incredibly small and fine. NOTE: the very top of the box displays 'Near Mint++" condition but is only rated 'Excellent++' because there is general wear and scuffing on the two long side panels. Please note that this kit must be shipped insured.

1969 issue of this very popular model. The Panzer IV mounted one 75mm gun and two MG24 machine guns. The 'H' variant depicted here had extra armor plates hung loosely from the sides to pre-detonate hollow charge projectiles. The kit can be built with or without this additional armor. Features rotating turret and elevating gun, detailed moving flexible treads, spring action bogeys, opening Cupola lid, extra hull-mounted spare tread links, jerry cans, two crew figures and more. Never started. It has been inventoried and NOTE: missing three spare track sections: I have included an extra Monogram Panzer IV flexible track, which has more than enough length to make these parts (and many more spare tracks if you wish). Otherwise includes all other parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note that one small decal is cut from the sheet but it is present. I have placed it in a small ziplock bag for safety.

From the 1960s. Large scale, well detailed model can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight or converted to electric RC using today's small and light servos and receivers. Well detailed with scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, vacuform nose/cowl and engine, full color decals, covering tissue, die cut balsa parts, rubber motor, plywood firewall and excellent full size plans. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

Very rare. Likely from the 1940s. William H Low Co., of Braintree Mass., issued the 'Wilo Line' which featured a superb series of antique commercial firefighting equipment, all in 1/48 scale. Bill Low was the designer of all kits and he was a superb model maker. The scale is given as 1/2" and the finished model wagon is approximately 7 inches long without the horse hitch and ~ 12 inches long with it. The kits were very advanced for the time and shared many of the pre-fabrication methods of Hudson Miniatures. Wilo Line kits features "all parts in this kit cut to size and shape." Includes plastic injection molded spoke wheels, precut and machined large and small wooden parts, beautiful, metal stock, a sealed bag of smaller parts including a great many more fully carved wood parts, metal parts and full size plans with numerous drawings and detailed text instructions. There is even a big photo of the actual prototype. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed small-parts bags with the non-sealed parts inventoried complete including instructions/plans. The kits in this line include Amoskeag Steamer, Hose Reel, Hose Wagon, Chemical Engine and many others. In most cases they are the only kits in existence of these historic vehicles. Bill Low did design at least one 'non-fire truck' kit in his Will-O-Line - a Conestoga Wagon, advertised as being 1/24 scale, kit #B14 for $2.85 listed as "This is another Museum Piece by Bill Low." After seeing these fire truck kits, I do not doubt that.
