Still factory sealed. 1/48 scale Spad (ex-Aurora molds) with large and colorful full decals for seven French and one Italian ace: Guyenemer, Fonck, Nungesser, Turenne, Sardier, Coiffard, Ehrlich and Barraca. Includes pilot and ground crew member. The box artwork for this kit was done by Charles Sterns. He was a very prolific model builder and painter. Besides several Glencoe kits, one of his many paintings can be seen as the cover art for Over the Front magazine, 1992: Volume 7, Number 2.

Features detailed engine and compartment, opening hood, full interior detailed underside and more. Molded in white, clear, red-tinted clear, chrome plate and with rubber tires. The kit has never been started. All the parts that were factory sealed (the vast majority) are still in factory sealed bags. In the days before computers, armchair strategist matched wits over some of the most complicated board games ever invented. SPI (Simulations Publications Inc) and Avalon Hill were just a few of the famous names. The games consists of detailed hexagon maps, cardboard 'chits' or representations of men and/or materials and thick set of rules to govern movement, line of sight, supply lines, weather, attack and the uncertainty of untried units and morale. This kit is complete and looks to have been used perhaps once if at all. The parts have been punched out of the original cardboard retainer and placed in the black plastic trays with clear covers. All parts are in exceptional condition.

In the late 1970s/early 1980s Sterling issued these simplified wood kits for beginners. They included a completely carved hull with very little sanding needed to complete. Also included are full size plans, instructions, rigging diagrams, cloth sails and many cast metal fittings. I remember building some of these - it was an ideal project for someone who had never built a solid wooden kit but wanted the experience. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions.

Features all very fine recessed panel lines, detailed ejection seats and cockpits, boarding ladder, detailed gear wells, optional position wings, canopy and speed brakes, optional position wing flaps and leading edge slats and much more. Includes a very large decal sheet for four colorful aircraft. NOTE: this kit has minor neat assembly and paint. A cockpit bulkhead and one seat have been assembled; quality of assembly is 'professional.' The cockpit tub and seats have been neatly airbrushed to 'excellent++" standards.
