Mid 1960s stick-and-tissue flying model with special 'Auto Magic Pilot' feature and 21 inch wingspan. Can be built for scale static display, rubber free-flight or gas powered control line or Auto Magic Pilot, where the aircraft flies by itself on a tether and maintains level flight. Features full size plans, many sheets of die-cut balsa wood parts, main spars, stringers, tissue, completely formed and painted wooden wheels, die-cut plywood parts, clear material for winscreen, vacuformed cowl and engine top detail, steel pre-shaped landing gear struts and decals. Full size plans are included that also include highly detailed text instructions. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts including decals and instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and were much nicer than most other kits of this type.

Dated 1965. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with quality, die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood, fully formed main and tail wheels, clear vacuform canopy and spinner, spars and wood stock as required, fully formed wire landing gear, rubber motor, plastic prop, wood thrust button, a big sheet of waterslide decals, template sheet with many details, covering tissue and detailed, full-size plans and building instructions. The kit has never beens started and has been inventoried complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

1973 YMBC issue still in the heavy cardboard shipping box. This kit is a reissue of the famous 'S' Long Beach tug. Includes decals for all three tug boats. This large scale (1/108) kit features excellent detail and the crew members. The Long Beach, of which Taurus is listed as one of her class, was built in Decatur, Alabama in 1943 and was one of a fleet of tugs operated by the Wilmington Transportation Company. She had a registered length of 81.1 feet and a beam of 24 feet. Gross tonnage was 146 inches and she drew 8 feet of water. Powered by a 700 hp diesel, the range was just over 3,500 miles. The kit has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: one part, the rudder brace, is a different color. It is from an earlier issue of this kit.
