Rare Revell of Japan issue with unique box art. Large-scale kit of the formation leader P-38 for bombing raids. Kit features clear nose with Norden bombsight, opening canopy, full cockpit details, optional position landing gear, bombs, and detailed engines with removable cowling panels. As with most all Japan issues, this one contains special features. The front page of the large instruction book has a large and beautiful full color painting of this aircraft, and 5 color photos of a professionally built model. There is also a Revell Japan fold out color catalog that lists the other kits available in Japan at this time and has photos of many of them. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags. The bigger parts are not sealed and have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions.

Includes both die-cast, beautifully detailed factory-built, painted and decaled models. One is mint and never removed from the box. The other has never been displays but the glue failed on the vertical and one horizontal stabilizer. The parts are mint and present, but there are a few tiny chips where they hit the fuselage in shipping. I have protected them so there can be no further damage.

Still factory sealed. From original Aurora molds. The I-19 is famous for firing history's most successful torpedo spread off Guadalcanal. On September 14, 1942, the I-19 was patrolling of the Solomons when the crew made visual contact with the American forces. After working into position, she fired a 6 torpedo spread. Three hit and sank the US Carrier CV-7 WASP, and the remaining three exploded against the BB North Carolina and the destroyer O'Brien. The destroyer sank and the North Carolina had to be repaired at Pearl till November 16, 1942. The I-19's Glen seaplane also flew night reconnaissance on February 23, 1942 over Pearl Harbor for the planned second attack by Emily flying boats on that base. Large scale kit is almost 16 inches long when assembled. This is an excellent model for that time from Aurora's improved efforts of the late 1960s/early 1970s. Aurora knew that the older kits were outclassed and cut a new series of better molds including several ships, helos and subs. The result was higher mold quality and very good detail, such as this kit. Includes display stand, decals, periscope and cranes, Glen seaplane, conning tower and deck guns.

1979 issue from the original Aurora molds. When Monogram purchased Aurora, they reissued some of the Aurora kits - but only the ones that met or came close to meeting Monogram quality standards. Molded in medium gray plastic. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. This model is a copy of the captured U-505 that is displayed at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

Reissue of the famous 1970s kit with some critical changes. Includes Hamilton Standard propellers, early style AN/APQ-13 radome and SCR-595 IFF antennas. Has markings for "Cream of the Crop" (1951 Kadena, Okinawa) and "Humpin Honey" in July 1944. Very highly detailed with full interior, five crew members and detailed bomb bay with bomb load. Does include two atomic bombs just like the original issue. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were no longer factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. Please note that for some reason, Revell/Monogram packed this kit in a very large box.
