The success of the Highway Pioneers lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. Maircraft was originally founded in the early or mid 1930s by Gordon Christoph and went by the name Aircraft Model Company. The company produced a typical line of solid 'profile cut' kits that required the usual high talent levels for carving and finishing. A former Comet Model Airplane & Supply Co. salesman, Jack Mair, bought the company in the early 1940s and renamed it Maircraft. This company was one of the handful of solid kit producers who issued models in a consistent 1/48 scale during the 1930s and 1940s (others included Hawk and Dyna-Model). This lead to one of the most desirable and rare model kits ever produced in the USA - the wood/plastic 1/48 United DC-3 model issued immediately after World War 2. Other than the P-61 and a few other Maircraft offerings, most were simple kits that sold for the low price of about 35 cents and gave the owners many hours of pleasurable work. This kit features a full size plan with instructions steps, fuselage, wings and tail that are 2D profile cut, clear material for the windshield, fully formed wheels and insignia on the plans. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions.

SALE!! Includes two never started and complete kits in one box. Rare model from 1940 for the advanced collector. Hawk was one of the few manufacturers making wooden kits to a constant scale of 1/48. However, the company was innovative as it quickly included injection molded accessories. This model features 3D cut fuselage, profile (2D) cut wings and tail feathers, turned & fully finished wooden wheels and spinner, stamped four blade propeller, insignia sheet and excellent plans with template views. Never started and complete with all parts for two kits, two sets of plans and two insignia sheets. Please note that this kit is simply called the "Heinkel Fighter." From what what can tell, this is a He-112B, with the three-piece bubble canopy and probably the V-10 with the big undernose radiator scoop.

Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business.

Nicely made, larger scale kit from the mid 1950s to the very early 1960s. Molded in silver and clear plastic and includes a large clear display stand with a 'swivel' head so the aircraft can be displayed in a variety of flight positions. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Lincoln was an injection molding firm located in Hong Kong. Model kits were not their primary business but an important sideline and they established an early international presence. Major countries of distribution were Hong Kong, Great Britain, New Zealand and Australia. Through specialty hobby shops, they often found their way to the West Coast of the USA. As early as 1956 Lincoln reissued about 16 Hawk kits from the USA, often with 'Picture Gallery' artwork. Although not their primary business, they established quite a line of plastic before discontinuing production in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Many molds moved to Kader, also in Hong Kong, who reissued the line. Some molds eventually found their way to the USA either through ATP (who purchased the excess kit stock when Kader sold out) or IM.

They sold so well that they introduced new kits almost annually well into the 1960s. Some sold well right up until the end of Aurora in the mid 1970s.
