Hobby Craft Vought F4U-4 Corsair - US Marines VMF-312 (Ex-Idea / Ex-Monogram) - (F4U4), 1/48, HC1511

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Some molds have a colorful history; this one is no exception. At one point, Monogram leased or sold a set of Corsair molds (from the original 4 Star action kit) to Idea in Korea. Idea copied the molds, modifying them with a tab on each tree with the Idea name. Hobby Craft's kit is the Idea copy of the Monogram Corsair (right down to the blue and black parts) with the Idea tab. On the outside of many Hobby Craft boxes it says 'Make in South Korea' - obviously Idea is one of the agents who molded kits for HC. 'Working Action Model' with many features; wings fold, landing gear and tail wheel retract and all gear doors close, working arresting gear and rotating wheels and prop. Under-wing stores feature missiles, bombs and drop tanks. Includes decals for Marine version. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

Jo-Han 1970 Cadillac Coupe de Ville Promo With Original Box, 1/25

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Very rare, especially in this condition. One-owner model was obtained new in 1970 in Lexington, KY by a very discriminating adult collector. The box is original to the model and stamped "1970 Cadillac" on the end flap. The actual model has perfect color and gloss, the chrome is like new and has never even been displayed. Tires are perfect (never rolled) and it has never even been displayed. I would grade it 9 out of 10 with 10 being flawless. I would grade it 9.8 out of 10, but there is a dark shadow in the left lower corner of the rear window; please see the photos. It appears that something may be stuck in there; I'll leave it to the new owner to take care of that.

Monogram The Big Deuce 1932 Ford Roadster Cherokee Red Issue - Street or Show Rod or Classic Highboy, 1/8, PC88-1498

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Rare first issue from 1963 in fantastic, investment grade condition. In the early 1960s Monogram invested in a series of huge 1/8 scale models with extraordinary detail and working features. The complete line consisted of the Big 'T' Street/Rod, Big Drag Competition Roadster, Big Rod Show/Go Roadster, Big Tub Custom Phaeton and this Big Deuce '32 Ford Roadster. The Deuce molds cost over $150,000 to produce - an absolute fortune at the time. The design work alone for the molds was $50,000. The total cost of the complete 1/8 scale project was over $1,000,000 - in 1963 money. The result was a nearly flawless large American Automotive model that has never been equaled to this day. The Big Deuce was one of the series by famous customize Darryl Starbird and was issued in red or yellow bodies - this is the red issue. It measures 20.5 inches long when assembled. Fit, mold quality and finish are of the highest quality - as only Monogram could do. Very highly detailed with 284 parts molded in 6 colors, 185 parts in chrome plate as well as real rubber tires. Can be built as the classic roadster or the highboy. Each can be further customized with a variety of extra parts. The kit features a realistic rolling chassis with all suspension, driveline and exhaust items just like the actual car, operating doors and trunk lid, operating head and tail lights, operating windshield with wind wings, realistic steering from the steering wheel, super detailed Pontiac engine with six Stromberg carburetors, individual spark plugs and ignition wires, rolled and pleated interior and trunk, dash panel with S-W instruments, chrome plated under-carriage and Le Mans wheels, realistic rubber wide whitewall tires, custom chrome firewall with instruments, plated dropped front axle, flexible radiator hoses, optional top with detailed top bow frame and much more. The box exceptional condition. It is not perfect but is the best I have seen. Color and gloss are very good, all four corners are solid with no repairs, there are no price tags and no tape (not even factory sealing tape) and no missing litho. The flaws include moderate edge wear, scuffing and general shelf and age wear as shown. Inside the kit is factory-new. These boxes were never cello sealed; the customer was invited to look inside each one. When you removed the box top, there was a clear panel bordered with yellow cardboard and this was glued to the lower box (tray) to seal the kit. This kit still has that yellow and clear inner 'lid' in excellent condition. Under that, all the original factory packing material is present- the lower tissue and all the clear 'separator' sections used between each part tree. The red plastic is brilliant, glossy and deep...it looks like paint, but it is not. The chrome is in amazing 'near mint++' condition and is factory fresh - the special thick clear dividers still protected all the parts. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still factory sealed. The parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried 100% complete with decals, instructions and even the Big Deuce Guarantee sheet. The kit has never been started. NOTE: the instructions have minor bug damage.
