On April 9, 1935, this magnificent custom built automobile was delivered to Rudolph Carracciola, the Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix team driver. Rudy, with an impressive win record of 23 wins and 23 second places, had chosen this vehicle for his own personal transportation. Powered by the supercharged 5 liter engine, the large and heavy vehicle was an excellent performer and one of the finest cars of the 1930s. The model kit is from the late 60s/early 1970s. Highly detailed kit for that time featuring over 150 parts, rolling chassis build-up just like the real car, steerable wheels, removable boot, highly detailed engine and full chassis, double spare tires, detailed interior, opening hood and chrome spoke wheels. The model is molded in brilliant gloss dark maroon, black, clear and a large tree of chrome-plated parts and rubber tires. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions.

NOTE: perfect builder only; has neat sub-assembly. Please read carefully. Very rare kit issued in 1968 and never again. Aurora did an incredibly good job on this kit for the time. It features full frame construction, separately molded suspension sprints, axles, differential, steering linkage and drive shaft, separate exhaust, full interior, head and tail lights, spoke wheels, all 'propulsion' gear correct to the prototype and the big wings. Molded in wood tan, chrome plate, yellow and clear plastic. This kit has been inventoried 100% complete but NOTE: it has several sub-assemblies neatly and adult built. They are perfectly aligned and all auxiliary parts fit as well as possible if not perfectly. The following are built (but not glued to any other sub-assemblies). The quality of work is in noted like this "(excellent)". None of these steps are not completed, He only built sub-assemblies. but here is what is done in each: Step 1: frame built (professional quality) and painted red (excellent++); running boards assembled to fenders (professional) and painted black (very good+). Step 2: body floor and 2 sides and inner bulkhead (four parts) built (professional) and the inner tub and outer white 'wood' lines painted (excellent++). Step 4: hood top halves and radiator (3 parts) assembled (professional) and fine trim painted (excellent++). Step 5: gas tank halves assembled (excellent++). Step 6: Wheel halves assembled (professional) and painted (excellent++) Please note painting these is very difficult and the work done is very fine. No other assembly has been done. There is very neat painting to several other parts: seats, license plate, interior inner panels. instrument details, oil pan, luggage rack and headlight buckets. All the painting is very neat and will not hinder assembly or repainting. There is no other assembly or painting. Inventoried complete and includes instructions.

MPC The Christie American Steam Fire Engine, 1/12, 1-2002

The Christie was the backbone of the American fire-fighting force prior to World War 1 - she was in service in just about every major city. Walter Christie, the designer, was a noted race car driver and the father of front wheel drive technology. This fire engine is actually a development of his turn of the century horse drawn steam pumpers. This model was developed from a fully restored Christie redone by Community Fire company No.1 of Wayne, NJ. This is a highly detailed model which is 1/12 scale and is over 19 inches long when assembled. Features display stand, moldings in red, black, gray and clear, brass and nickel plated parts, decals for all stripes and letting, over 330 parts, decals and full instructions. NOTE: this kit has minor assembly. 5 parts in step one have been assembled. Quality is excellent with no gaps and straight alignment with only a small minor glue visible. There is no other assembly. Two factory bags have been opened and those parts are inventoried 100% complete. All other parts are still in the factory sealed bags. Includes excellent decals and instructions.

From high quality Hasegawa molds. This was a short-lived venture by AMT to promote quality Hasegawa model kits under the AMT name. Kits were molded in Japan then boxed in the USA, while AMT made the unique decal choices for Royal Hellenic Air Force (Greece), Italian and Spanish Air Forces. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the instructions have very light bug damage. The actual decal transfers are fine, but the backing paper has bug damage also.

AMT-Frog Blackburn Shark Torpedo Bomber - Fleet Air Arm/Canadian/Portugal, 1/72, A605-80

Rare short-lived AMT marketing promo to sell Frog kits in the USA. This model was one of Frog's best efforts for a 1/72 biplane - it is very well detailed. The very sturdy Shark was the final biplane torpedo bomber for the FAA, with 238 delivered after production began in May of 1935. Features decals for three aircraft- British Fleet Air Arm, Portuguese Navy (6 were delivered) and one of the 20 Shark license built by Boeing for Canada. Kit features movable control surfaces, prop, wheels, optional floats or wheeled version and torpedo and bomb loads. With color painting guide. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the decals have bug damaged. The damage is about 2% of the sheet (98% of the transfers are intact).

The actual transfers are 98% intact; the majority of the damage is to the backing paper which apparently tastes much better than the varnish covering the transfers!

Despite much anticipatory rejoicing by Army aviators, this interesting project was abandoned when most fixed wing types were transferred to the USAF.
