Features completely carved fuselage with cockpit and navigator cutouts that needs only final sanding, completely carved main float, excellent profile-cut wings, horizontal & vertical stabilizers, wood stock as required, a corked glass bottle of factory glue, a corked glass bottle of factory blue dope, a blue insignia sheet with stars and bars & aircraft numbers, another color insignia sheet with a very large variety of kill markings (flags and kill profiles), canopy celluloid with perfectly printed frames and excellent full size plans with building instructions, aircraft tips and cross sections for making templates. Complete and never started. Please note that I did not see a prop. Burkard Giant Solid Models were made by Consolidated Model Engineering Co., Bronx, New York.

This kit is part of Sterling's expensive big-wingspan series that was designed for action - it launches rockets in flight - and for R/C and also includes numerous extra parts for control line operation or free-flight. Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model that features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, many light plastic detail parts, vacuformed plastic canopy, rubber motor, plastic prop, a big set of decals, coving tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. Never started. The small parts are still factory sealed in the "STERLING" bag, and the parts that were never sealed are inventoried complete with all paperwork and decals. NOTE: decals are 100% intact but have aged - they are slightly yellowed and wrinkled. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe models.
