1983 issue of the classic 1961 'Four Star' kit. The molds were modified for this issue - the cockpit details have been improved. Has many action features: Folding wings, retractable landing gear, bomb bay opens and bomb drops (after swinging clear of the prop!), rear guns can be stowed or elevated, canopies open and close and the wheels and prop rotate. The group represented in this kit, VMSB-224, was the first US Marine group to fly the Helldiver in combat. The kit has never been started. The parts that were originally put in internal factory sealed bags are still factory sealed; the parts that never were sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions.

It is 100% complete but the seat, throttle and rudders are neatly built and nicely airbrushed. The stick and instrument panel are airbrushed also. The Black Magic Mask Set is #CEBM48304. The masks are intact except for the wheels, which were used to pro quality paint the wheels. The actual Monogram kit includes decals from the famous and well-photographed 'Polish Glider' aircraft. Typical high Monogram quality with full cockpit and wheel well detail. External stores included and optional position speed brakes. NOTE: this kit has minor and 'professional quality sub-assembly as follows: main and nose wheels (also airbrushed pro) and the drop tanks are assembled. There is no other assembly. Well detailed with scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, vacuform nose/cowl and engine, full color decals, colored tissue, die cut balsa parts, rubber motor, plywood firewall and excellent full size plans. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

For some reason, Durango Press did not issue instructions with DP-12, probably because is only a few parts. The Handcar Shed features factory cut hardwood parts, corrugated metal siding, and many cast metal details. Never started. The small parts are still factory sealed and anything not sealed has been inventoried complete, including instructions.
