Monogram Boeing 727 TWA - (ex Aurora), 1/96, 5414

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

1978 issue after Monogram bought and modified the Aurora molds. Monogram only reissued the best and most commercially viable models. In this case, they saw the molds could be improved, and the result is a much better and accurate kit, the best 'short' body 727 available in near 1/100 scale. Monogram added a network of very fine raised panel lines to the fuselage (the original had no panel lines), filled the deep e-doors over the wings and made them fine raised also, added wing fences and fine raised panel lines to the wings, added flap hinges to the wing undersides and added fine raised panel lines to the horizontal stabilizers. Monogram was evidently proud of the improvement, and even shows them on the assembly drawings. With full landing gear. Contains excellent TWA full stripes and window decals. This kit has not been started. The parts are still in the factory sealed bag. Includes decals and instructions.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: No Box

Sold

Bagged kit - there is no box. The box is shown for reference only. 1979 issue and a very finely molded and detailed kit in the traditional Monogram style. Never started. The aircraft has been inventoried with all parts, decals and instructions present. NOTE: missing display stand. The Hawk P-36A has the dubious distinction of fighting on both sides and for more countries than any other plane in history during the opening years of WWII. This Hawk, one in a long progression of famous fighter aircraft, was the winner of a 1935 competition. The USAA Corps received the first aircraft in April of 1938 and the French ordered 100 aircraft in May of the same year. French Hawks shot down just over 30 German planes during the battle for France. The Germans captured the aircraft and sold them to Finland. Others were captured when the Germans overran Norway. In all over 800 Hawks were produced and served in China, Netherlands East Indies, Portugal, Great Britain, Thailand, Argentina and Peru. Although an excellent fighter in 1935, the Hawk was outclassed by the time the war started but when flown properly still gave a good account of itself.
