This is a superb high-definition resin model that is very highly detailed. Features an excellent cockpit and much more. Includes full decals and paint guide. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags. The predecessor to this aircraft was the Yokosho-designed airplane completed in August of 1928 and given the designation Type 14-2 Reconnaissance Seaplen Kai-I. it was powered by the Jupiter VIII 450 hp radial engine. After this prototype was completed, the Type 14-2 Kai-I-C was put into production with the 450 hp Lorraine engine and also a Kai-1-D with the Jupiter. Two pre-production aircraft were also built by Kawanishi, who delivered them in October of 1931 under the company designation "G." These were evaluated by the Navy and after modifications were made, the design was officially adapted by the Navy as the Type 90-3 with a short designation of E5Y1. Only about 20 were built, but their entry into service was timely because of the outbreak of the Shanghai Incident. These airplanes equipped battleships and seaplane tenders such as Natoro, which immediately left for Shanghai. The subsequent activities of the E5Y1 were given impressive newspaper coverage.

It has many action features: wings fold properly as on actual aircraft, landing gear retracts including tail wheel and arresting hook and includes a pilot figure, a payload of bombs, drop tanks and rockets and more.

First issue from 1956 with square Northern Lights logo. This logo was only used for that year and was quickly replaced in 1957 with the well-known 'sunburst' oval with 'Famous Fighters' written in the border. Molded in the correct metallic deep burgundy and black plastic. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. James Cox, who did much of the early artwork for Aurora, created a timeless classic for this issue - this artwork was used well into the 1960s and possibly up till the final 'Big A' logo boxes before Aurora's demise. Mr. Cox also did unique artwork for the early Aurora Catalogs as well. Please see the article about Mr. Cox located on this website. Please note that the box has bright color and gloss but upper left corner wear, light brown specs at the top center and upper long side, wear a shown and a very short factory tape pull on the upper long side.

Very rare and dated 1963. First and only Four-Star issue of this rare accessory for customizing and of Monogram's large 1/8 car kits or any other larger car kit. NOTE: this box contains (4) of the Mag Racing Wheels. It does NOT include the usual (2) Mercury wheels. At some point someone removed the Merc Wheels and added two of the Mags. The (4) Mag Wheels fronts have factory-new 'near mint' condition chrome. (3) of the rear halves have 'near mint' chrome. (1) rear half has glue on the inside surface (that does not show). The chrome that does show is 'very good' and does have some scuffs. Missing the instructions. The clear cellophane window on the back is in mint condition. In an attempt to make the superb but very expensive 1/8 car molds pay off, Monogram issued some parts separately as accessories for any larger car models. The entire line came out in 1963 and consisted of AK201-59 Six Carb Assembly, AK202-59 Oval Gas Tank, AK203-79 Drag Race Set, AK204-79 GMC Blower Set, AK205-79 Chrome Wheel Set, AK206-100 White Wall Drag Slicks and AK207-79 White Wall Tires. Sales were very weak because all of the 1/8 scale car kits were very expensive for that time, so and the line was discontinued.
