Very rare multi-media 'plastic and pre-carved wood' kit. Before there were injection molded plastic kits, model builders worked in wood or metal. Advanced companies, like Monogram, saw the advantage of plastic and began marketing kits with plastic details and fully-carved fuselage, wings, etc. This beautiful kit is one the highest quality composite static kits from the early to mid 1950s. Includes finished wings with airfoil, completely carved fuselage, colored die-cut wooden parts, plastic canopy, pilot, headrest, tail wheel, prop, cowling, pitot tube and more. The model has not been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

1958 first issue hardbox featuring some of my favorite 'S' box artwork. Correct, original issue molded in three colors. Not a reproduction. The box is in 'very good++' condition with great color and gloss. There are no price tags, no tag marks, no litho tear or missing litho, no fading, four solid original corners, no stains and no tape other than the factory tape. Flaws include even light to moderate general wear as shown and some litho bubbling & creasing. Loaded with working features typical of kits at the time. The entire gantry tower folds back and moves on railroad base, the elevator moves to the four different work platforms and the Explorer Satellite can be removed from the Jupiter rocket. Includes crew of 7. Inside, the kit has never been started. Parts are molded in red, medium gray and white. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and amazing 'excellent+++' condition decals and 'excellent' instructions with some edge wear and typical yellowing.

Still factory sealed and in amazing 'near mint+' investment-grade condition. 2nd issue of this kit dated 1967. Highly detailed for that time and from the same molds as the 1961 'Four Star' issue. Has many action features: when you pull the prop outward and rotate it CCW, the landing gear retracts. Pull it outward and rotate it CW, and the gear extends. Push the prop in, and it freewheels as normal. Kit features a movable control surfaces, highly detailed cockpit, full decals, sliding canopy and instructions for rigging.
