But, due to political sabotage by Luftwaffe officials, the ship was not completed. The remaining Fi-167s were sold to abroad.

Comet Aeronca K - 25 Inch Wingspan - Coke Bottle Issue, N25-29

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Rare 1950s/early 1960s stick-and-tissue flying model. Features quality balsa printwood, factory-cut strip & spar stock, covering material and full plans. There is no assembly but NOTE: the parts have been cut out to 'professional' quality...better than any die-cutting could have done. As you know, this is an amazing advantage to the builder and an incredible time saver. Oddly enough, the man who cut them out was one of Monogram's top Chief Designers. He designed and headed up the projects for the B-52, B-17, B-24J, Mosquito, Skyraider A-1E, Hurricane, Spitfire, P-40, at least one (if not all) of the 1/8 scale cars and many, many more. The entire Comet 1950s "N" line included the following (gaps mean there is no kit, at least at that time): N1 Tiger Shark P-40, N2 F-86D Sabre Jet, N4 Globe Swift, N6 Taylorcraft, N8 F-51 Mustang, N9 Helicopter, N11 Ryan Navion, N12 Firefly, N15 Piper Cub, N16 Fokker DVII, N17 Spad, N24 Phantom Fury, N25 Aeronca K (floats) and N26 Stinson SR-7. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

The box is dated 1957 but this is roughly the third or fourth issue because of the simplified blue-border logo which means it is from about 1963/64. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business. Monogram even reissued a few of these kits after they purchased the Aurora molds in the late 1970s.

When the Germans tried to upgrade to the DV, the Austro-Hungarian air arm did not need to. The plane performed very well against a numerically superior enemy and was a favorite and the mount of many of Austria's Aces. Has markings for Austria's leading ace with 35 victories, Godwin Brumowski. Large decal sheet also includes marking for his other Albatros and two other Austrian aces as well. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

The aircraft is in the 'in flight' configuration and includes the Comet 'teardrop' based stand. The kit has never been started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing (1) of (2) engine pylons. Easily made. Otherwise complete with all other parts, decals and instructions present. The box is only 'good' because of general wear and two split corners which have been clear taped back together. Comet originally began model production in 1929 with a line of balsa flying models. In the mid-1950s Comet made a beautiful line of small and medium scale aircraft and missile models with colorful boxes. The early issues were in one-piece 'flip-top' boxes, and the later issues and releases were in standard two-piece 'hardboxes' with a lithograph slick glued to the top box. In 1963 Comet sold the plastic kit molds to Aurora, who reissued some but not all of the kits.
