Rare 1950s issue with very colorful box art and box design. This one is unusually complete and it includes the pink Quality Inspection Slip, green tube of glue (dried up, of course) and metal nose weight; usually one or all of three of these are missing. The model features pilot bust, clear canopy, full landing gear, drop tanks, metal nose weight and the large Frog round base display stand. Molded in a very light blue-green and clear plastic. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.
Anigrand Martin XB-48 - 6 Engine Jet Bomber, 1/72, AA2084

Very highly detailed resin kit. The parts are still in the internally sealed bags. Includes decals and instructions. With the success of the German jet bomber Ar.234 in 1944, USAAF became aware of enemy aviation advances. The war department issued a requirement for a new design of jet bomber which was powered by either the J35 or J47 engine. From this, the Martin company submitted the Model 223. It was awarded contract for two prototypes which were then designated XB-48. Other designs which entered the competition included the North American XB-45, Convair XB-46 and the Boeing XB-47. The USAAF needed urgently needed a jet-bomber, so in 1946 they chose the flight-tested B-45 as the winner. Any decision on the XB-47 and XB-48 were deferred until they had tested. The first XB-48 made its maiden flight in 1947 but engine difficulties delayed development and testing. In 1948 the XB-47 was ready for testing and quickly beat the XB-48 in a fly-off; the XB-47 with its swept wing had much better performance. Martin attempted further work on the design, but it was rejected by the Air Force. Flight tests of the XB-48s continued until the program was terminated in the fall of 1949.

Original issue from 1974. When Aurora's demise seemed sure, a group of Aurora employees split and founded Addar. The Planet of the Apes kits gave them some early traction in the market. However, they were out of business by 1976. The model has never been started. NOTE: missing instructions so I cannot inventory the kit. Here is what is present: Caesar the Ape is complete with all parts; the hut behind him contains the floor, both wall surfaces, the edge of the 'roof' shown at the top of the illustration, the three-pole 'railing' Caesar is hanging on to, the ladder that goes to the right off the floor, one support beam and the three piece tree. It makes a nice model but is obviously missing the base and accessories for starters.

Unique design submitted to RLM in 1944 by Richard Vogt of B&V. This aircraft featured mix propulsion; a turbojet in the pilots pod and a piston engine on the tailplane pod. It was seen as a multi role aircraft; fighter, escort, recon and bomber (it had an internal bomb bay in the fuselage). The project was not pursued due to the poor war situation at the time. Work began on the HS-132 as a jet powered replacement for all the current dive and ground attack bombers which could not function without complete air superiority. Using the experience from the HS123 and 129, Henschel created a simple design where the pilot lay prone to combat "G" forces. The prototype was almost complete when the Russians captured it in 1945.
