Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Sealed Exc++
$139
Still factory sealed and very rare in this condition. The long, low lines and graceful fins stretching from the "A" pillar to the taillights made for a beautiful Desoto. Sales in 1960 lagged, however. It was not that the car was bad - the cars were reliable and stunning performers. Desoto was more the victim of corporate political infighting than anything else. The 1960s were the last full line, with a brief introduction of two Desoto Automobiles in 1961. Since Desoto cars were still in demand, some dealerships even sued the Chrysler Corporation for discontinuing the line. This model is very well molded and detailed. It features full engine & detailed compartment, opening hood, complete interior, spotlight, gearshift/turn signal/tach assembly, seat belts, side view mirrors and more. Molded in colored plastic (the color varies kit to kit), clear, red-tinted clear, chrome plate parts and rubber tires.

Rare first issue from 1966. NOTE: this kit has been neatly built & painted and makes an ideal (and fairly simple) restoration project. The body paint is 'excellent' and the assembly is certainly done by a talented adult and grades 'excellent' (not perfect, but way above average). Decal application is very neat as well. Interestingly enough, it appears that all of the stock & other version parts are included. I did not inventory them but they are certain from this kit and extensive. Includes the original instructions.

From the mid 1960s and still the only larger scale Auburn kit in injection molded plastic. Improvements over the earlier issues include chrome wire wheels, rubber tires, clear parts and two good-sized trees of chrome plated details. The body & other parts are molded in red plastic. Features detailed engine, opening hood and good interior detail. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions present. The '35 Auburn weighed 4200 lbs. and was one of the few cars of that time to have hydraulic brakes. Power came from a 150hp (@4000) supercharged engine with three inch exhaust pipes that easily sped the car to over 100 mph. Ab Jenkins set a record with a stock issue 851 at Bonneville Salt Flats in July of 1935, and became the first one to pilot a stock car for over 12 hours at an average of over 100 mph.

Dated 1978 and from highly detailed Aurora molds. When Monogram purchased the Aurora molds, they only reissued the few kits that met their quality standards; this was one of them. Aurora really pulled out all of the stops on this model and it features the famous 3.5L straight 6 engine, full engine compartment, opening hood, detailed front and rear suspension, driveline and exhaust, excellent interior, opening doors, opening trunk and more. It is molded in multiple colors, just like the Aurora kit: the body parts are a deep gloss burgundy and the other parts in tan, chrome plate and clear. The clear parts are 'near mint' and the chrome is also. The kit has never been started. It is exactly as it left the factory. The maroon parts are still in the factory sealed bag; the other parts were never factory sealed and have been inventoried complete. Includes instructions. Please note that this kit never came with decals.
