Unusual kit of the early Scharnhorst with the 'straight' bow. This was before her modification with the 'Atlantic' bow. This well molded and detailed full hull model is from 1978 and features propeller and rudder detail, separately molded main, secondary and AA armaments, fully detailed superstructure, ships boats, two catapults, Arado Ar-196 float planes and much more. There is no assembly but NOTE: there is minor and neat painting as follows: (1) anchor, small upper deck #132 and (2) gun directors #52 and 53. There is no other painting. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions present.

1980 issue. Very large (1/32) scale Starfighter that can be built as the USAF C or Canadian G variant. Features good cockpit, detailed landing gear and gear wells, real rubber tires, cannon bay with Vulcan gun and optional position access door, tip tanks, AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles, iron bomb load, choice of C or G nose probes, refueling probe, and painting guide and decals for both aircraft. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The aircraft 'Smoke II' took part in the Vietnam war, and here is the bio from Arizonawrecks.com - '1 August 1966, at the same time that Capt Kwortnik's flight was encountering intense ground fire, another flight of Starfighters was escorting F-105 Wild Weasels over Thai Nguyen when one of them suddenly turned into a ball of flame. This was assumed to be another SA-2 SAM hit, and the pilot Lt. Colonel Arthur Thomas Finney was posted as missing, later KIA (his remains were returned to the USA 14 August 1985). This aircraft had the nickname "Smoke II" on its nose.'

Renwal did an excellent job on engineering & detail and they feature full interior, body and chassis parts molded in the proper colors as well as clear, chrome and/or brass plated and with real rubber tires. Still factory sealed. Dates from the late 1960s. Large scale model can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight, or converted to electric RC using modern small, light servos and receivers. Features quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, die-cut plywood firewall for gas operation, light plastic cowl, pilot bust, machine guns, engine and more, scale plastic wheels, rubber motor, thrust button, plastic propeller, big sheet of full color decals, covering tissue and excellent full size plans with instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.
