The S-55 proved to be very reliable and airworthy, setting 14 world records for speed, altitude and distance with a payload. Three months before Lindbergh's solo Atlantic flight, the S-55 flew with stops from Italy to Rio and NY City. In 1933 Marshal Balbo led 25 S-55s to Chicago in about 48 hours. He then flew back without incident. Never started. The clear parts are still in the factory sealed bag; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Sterling Zero A6M3 Model 32 Hamp Drops Belly Tank In Flight - 24 Inch Wingspan for Free Flight / Control Line Or R/C, A15

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$74

From the early to mid 1960s. This model is designed for R/C, free flight or control line. It features an innovative system for automatically dropping the centerline belly tank in flight, high-grade die-cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, clear vacuform canopy (in mint condition and not even yellowed), fully finished main and tail wheels, finished wire landing gear, rubber motor & plastic propeller, all large & colorful decal sheet, full size plans with instruction details and notes on RC or control line conversion. The kit has never been started. The small parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed Sterling bag. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they were very complete.
