Western Aircraft Mfg Co Dragon-Fly Miniature Airplane - 14 Inch Wingspan Prefabricated Flying Model

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$249

Very rare. 1932 early RTF stick-and-tissue model from Western Aircraft Manufacturing Company, Los Angeles California. The box and kit are both in investment-grade 'near mint' condition. I had seen these in 1930s magazines but did not know if any were left. All of the pieces of this aircraft have been factory assembled and simply need to be put together with the supplied rubber bands. The fuselage/rubber stick is cut, finished & painted and has both metal rubber motor clips installed. The wing, vertical and horizontal stabilizers are fully assembled of light-weight wood with the tissue applied. The horizontal stabilizer and wing have the correct airfoil camber built in, and the wing has the USA national insignia applied. There is a perfectly carved wooden propeller, metal rubber hook/propeller shaft, two fully finished wheels, other wood parts cut to size and ready to install. Even the original rubber bands used for installing sub-assembles together are present and still intact on the motor stick. The rubber band motor is present but very brittle and broken into many sections. There is an excellent set of front and back illustrated instructions that cover assembly, how to fly and adjust the aircraft and how to maintain it. Please note, this model must be shipped insured.

De Kalb Toys Jeep / Napkin Holder / Steam Locomotive / Dump Truck / Farm Tractor / Candy Server / Candle Stick / Doll Dresser / Planter / Hot Rod (T Bucket), 47

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$24

Early 1950s hardwood home craft kit that can build any of the items listed. Depending on your choices, you can build more than one. Includes large fold-out instructions that includes an illustration of each one, materials list, dimensions and assembly hints. Inside, the box is carefully packed full of hardwood thin boards, two sizes of rectangular hardwood stock, dowels and sandpaper. This is certainly not a pre-fabricated scale kit; you need to do all the cutting and the result is fairly well detailed, sturdy toy(s) or useful table items. It's an ideal project if you wish to do some light wood-working or introduce a youngster to the hobby. Never started and inventoried complete.

Revell Messerschmitt Bf-110 G-4 Japan Issue - (Bf110G4), 1/32, H250-2000

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$125

Very rare Revell of Japan issue dated 1975. Please note the fantastic box art work, which was only used on this issue. Most Japan issues have special features; this kit is no exception. The front page of the instructions is a glossy, full-color 16.5" x 11.5" painting guide and also has a giant color photo of the assembled model. Large and well detailed kit features detailed engines, removable cowls, full cockpit, hinged canopies, crew figures, detailed weapons bay and removable access cover, complete radar antenna, very good landing gear detail and excellent decals. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Lockheed F-104 Starfighter - (ex Comet), 1/110, 291-60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$79

Very rare 1964 Aurora of Canada hardbox issue of the ex-Comet kit. Several small-scale Comet molds (including the F-104, B-47 and B-52) were never reissued for the USA market and for decades I have wondered what happened to them. Aurora had no need for them, as they had already cut their own (superior) small-scale molds for those subjects. Well, the ex-Comet molds went to Aurora of Canada! The slightly less detailed Comet kits were issued there using the same box art as their slightly more detailed Aurora USA counterparts. Simply looking at the box top, you could not tell the difference. However, the contents and instructions gives the secret away. Molded in silver and clear and still retains the original Comet 'teardrop' shaped two-piece stand. Naturally the instructions are completely unique since this is a completely different kit from the Aurora USA Starfighter. This model is 100% correct and has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Revell Oldsmobile Delivery Van Highway Pioneers - (Oldsmobile), 1/32, H44

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

$38

1953 early issue molded in white and black plastic and it includes colorful insignia for 'Gowland's Bakery.' This kit has never been started. All parts are still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag and it includes the instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Lindberg F-80C Shooting Star - (P-80), 1/48, 500-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$59

From the 1950s and with wonderful artwork. The hardbox is in 'excellent+' condition with great color and gloss. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear with the early O-lin style two-piece, teardrop-based stand. The kit has not been started and is complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Paul Lindberg got his start in 1930s model aviation by designing, building and flying stick and tissue aircraft. His plans appeared in Popular Aviation magazine and he soon made a name for himself. When injection molding showed the way to increased kit sales in the late 1940s/early 1950s, he quickly teamed up with Mr. Olsen to create 'O-lin' models. Ray Gaedke was one the the early artists for O-lin, and he help pioneer dramatic and colorful box artwork. In the early 1950s Paul Lindberg was running the company and had the logo changed to his name. The first logo was circular, with 'Lindberg' in middle and 'Products' 'Incorporated' arched across the top and bottom. The second logo is the 'Yellow Square' that is on this kit. Ray Gadke continued his bold and colorful artwork for Lindberg and did this F-80C boxart as well.
